Anyone in Canada, do you have to pay your photo radar speeding tickets?
i got zapped at 1am in a "construction zone" going the roads regular speed limit but it was dropped down because they had construction on the road earlier in the day. but there was no construction on it that night obviously.
i have heard you do not have to pay photo radar tickets because they are done by a licensed company or something along those lines. not to sure if this is true or not. i am pleeding not guilty just so i can waste the cops time anyway. anyone know if you actually have to pay these? |
Photo Radar was shot down in BC by the Liberal Goverment.
Any outstanding tickets were not required to be paid, and they don't use photo radar now. |
I got one last week and yes I had to pay it, 64 km in a 50 km zone cost me $110
not sure how they work it from where you are but here in the peg you have to pay it. |
we still have it here which is complete bullshit, they only set it up at times when people are:
a) not on the road and b) places that have a speed limit change for stupid reasons, they are out to get your money not protect the community. |
we banned them in b.c., but yes before that you pay. They get ya when you go try and get insurance.

get ya going through the intersection when the light changes from green to yellow almost everyone speeds up when they see the yellow light to get across before it turns red. thats how I got nailed. of course they change the intersection randomly so ya never know where they will be |

I think you should pay it

haha, i have the cover on my back plate for red photo light camera, even though they arn't used here in the states. When shot from an angel, the lens on the plate cover smears my numbers. I love stealth devices... nothing can tag my speed except road strips... radar, laser, nothing.

yea, no problem.... the laser jammer, Blinder X-treme, just got that installed and i've been hit 2 times with laser... and the cops just look at the laser gun like.. WTF?!?
i know everything about radar and laser there is to know... at least the rules in the states. Somethings might be different in Canada. Like here, legally they can't shoot your speed over a quarter mile with a gun because of accuracy issues. .. but anyway.. i'll stop now before I type a whole article. take it easy |
The only thing that bothers me about speeding is that most of the time when you get nailed you're only one of a few people speeding around you. As you're pulled over people are still speeding past you.

Why don't you just pay it and not worry?

exactly, and for the people posting earlier in the thread we also have red light cams. they only have them at certain intersections but they seem to be expanding them to more and more intersections throughout the city. i think the city like the $ a little bit to much. i was gunned at 1am on a FREEWAY that is ALWAYS 100kmph that day they had it at 70kmph and did not take the signs down at night, there was NO ONE on the road but cars, and EVERYONE was going 100km+ as usual. (i travel this road daily) im not sure if anyone else got blasted because it was a photo radar set up on the side of the road in an undercover van. (i feel dum because i can normally recognize a cop undercover doing speed checks). i am heading down to the administration office today to see the original photo and see if my plate in clearly shown. i plan on pleeding not guilty anyway, A) to waste the traffic cops time and B) in calgary you basically have a 50/50 chance of the cop showing up to the courttime or not, and if he doesnt show you get it off because there is NO WITNESSES PRESENT for the prosecution. |

because i hate cops, and i hate the city, they get enough of my tax dollars, i do not care about some cheap ass cop setting up road traps because he has to meet his monthly quota, he and the city can both SUCK MY DICK. |
