Why are people even letting themselves be interviewed by this clown/entertainer...? |
but most importantly...
do you think HE ever 'went big' ? :? >trying to picture him in a fur coat, smooth sun glasses, etc...< :) :thumbsup |
Btw.. if you thought Renquist was a tool of the republicans.. watch out for Roberts.. lol
|
Rehnquist was one of the two votes in opposition to women's abortion rights in the landmark Roe. Vs. Wade case. He also was the swing vote in the Bush vs. Gore case which gave Bush Jr. the Presidency, even though in doing so Rehnquist contradicted previous positions he had strongly held, which would have favored the case for Gore.
Robert's is even more dangerous. He has been groomed by the far right from the beginning for a position on the Supreme Court since they know how he will vote. What is his total experience as a judge? He's been on the bench all of two years, thanks to an appointment by Dubya himself. Other than that, his experience is as a political appointee of right-wing Republicans and a corporate attorney. Now Bush not only wants Robert's on the Supreme Court, but he wants him appointed Chief Justice. Even Renquist had to serve eleven years on the Supreme Court before becoming Chief Justice. Robert's record on many important issues that the Supreme Court will confront is ambiguous at best. His wife however was an executive of an anti-abortion rights group, if that is any indication (and I think it is). My guess is that Bush's handlers will offer up a moderate woman or minority to fill the second of the two Supreme Court vacancies in order to grease the wheels so that Robert's (a relatively young nominee) can be moved straight into the Chief Justice position, and influence the Court for decades to come. What a sad day for liberty, freedom and justice... ADG Webmaster |

I assume you do something in the adult biz. I'm not sure how you think voting in a anti-adult industry conservative political puppet like Dubya was going to benefit you, but please do not call me when they are kicking down your door. ADG Webmaster |
very interesting read... thanx!

He sounds like a pillar of peace, equality, and freedom. All the things we would hope a Chief Justice would embody. *sarcasm*

Imagine if they get in Roberts and Gonzales:(

Why in a "democracy" do they insist on electing people who have nada experience of fuck all, but seem to be "friends of friends"? (Or son's of ex-presidents) Roberts has nada track record, even as a judge in any capacity. He's a run of the mill lawyer. There must be two kinda of "democracy", one for "special people" and another for all the rest. :1orglaugh |

My problem with Roberts is that he has been given a fast-track to the Supreme Court in a manner which has allowed him to cloak his true political leanings. If the Congress is to vote on a person, the nominee should be willing to be forthcoming about their positions on issues of great constitutional interest to the American people, such as their position on abortion rights, gay marriage, and even sexual freedom (which greatly affects the adult industry). When liberal judges are outspoken advocates for freedoms most Americans take for granted, they are labeled "activist" judges, yet when conservative judges use the court to benefit right wing causes, and are questioned upon it, there are cries of foul and "litmus test" on the right. The Democrats did an appallingly bad job of raising the issue of Supreme Court nominations as a major election issue, even though it possibly cost them the 2000 election, and the court was known to be facing potential retirements. Hopefully they can do a better job in the confirmation hearings. I cannot imagine anything worse than having both Roberts and Gonzalez on the Supreme Court (unless Dubya should get another nominee or two before his term in office is up). ADG Webmaster |

Whoah that's some nasty stuff, disturbing that such a man can become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court!

A far from unbiased person. Likewise, who can accept the opinion of a person with such moral fortitude as yourself? Help me with this one: Who designed, sold, and profited from systems that scalped his fellow webmasters? |
The best Dershowitz has against Rehnquist is that Rehnquist supposedly told an inappropriate joke as a student, and that somehow it is Rehnquist's fault that Dershowitz gets hate mail? It makes no sense.
To Dershowitz's other more serious allegations --obviously the deceased Rehnquist cannot respond. How convenient. |
