My homeowners insurance dropped flood coverage about 2 weeks ago
 

Got a notice in the mail . They must have had experts tell them Katrina was going to fuck things up. Probably saved the insurance company millions if not billions. I'd be pissed if I lived in NO!

can they just "drop" insurance cause they know they are gonna have to pay for shit ?
Doesn't seem legal .

Since I live in Arizona, I didn't really care. However, if I still lived in Chicago, I would have investigated this "notice"

post this in that conspiracy theory thread... I'm sure many gfyers will see this as proof that Katrina was man made...

You can easily have flash floods in AZ... You'd better get your ass covered if you are living anywhere near an arroyo or the salt river.

Since when has home owners insurance ever included FLOODS? I'm pretty sure you have to get it from the government.

Its not illegal for them to change the contract it says right in the contract that if they have to change it you have a right to cancel without penalty.

I thought flood insurance was through FEMA?

If I lived two blocks further west I'd need to have mandatory separate wind and flood insurance.

exactly, it's like here also...anyway, it doesn't seem to be legal...at least for me

Usually they charge more for it as a separate insurance.
