winxp: how to run a program under admin as other user?
i fucked shit up!
im logged on as administrator but i need to run a program under another user account, as the user, so it thinks im executing it from the user account so i can have the settings that are set for that user, as opposed to the administrator. I cant login as the user cuz i fucked up the pw and i cant reset it. is there a way to do this? thru console or something?? |

yeah, use the 'runas' command in console.. I think you'll still need the user password though :)
otherwise, if you don't just want to change the password (cause it's not yours :)), you can use a program like l0phtcrack or saminside to reveal it.. |

If your logged on as an administrator : Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the account type of the other user you want to run it from to "computer admin" , log off admin, log onto user, you will have sufficient privledges.

i believe the account type is already computer admin. I dont want the user knowing i accessed anything so i cant just reset the pw they have on it or take it off completely. Then ill blow my spot, lol. Well, since they didnt protect the main admin account with a pw, i boot into safemode so i have the admin login available, then logged in as admin i try and run ms messenger. I tried via console with "runas /user:<Username> msmsgs.exe" in the messenger folder, and it says file not found. So i also try and right click the file, it gives the option 'runas', so i select the user account, and then it says it cant run the program in safemode. Which is bullshit cuz if i run it normally as admin the program loads. |
