Sad - 'somebody's coming to get you'
"We have been abandoned by our own country," said Aaron Broussard, the president of Jefferson Parish in New Orleans.
He broke down in tears Sunday as he recounted how a colleague's mother drowned awaiting rescue from a nursing home. "Everyday, she called and she said, 'Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?' " Broussard told NBC's "Meet the Press." "And he said, 'Yeah, Mama, somebody's going to get you. " 'Somebody's coming to get you on Tuesday. " 'Somebody's coming to get you on Wednesday. " 'Somebody's coming to get you on Thursday. " 'Somebody's coming to get you on Friday,' and she drowned Friday night." "Nobody's coming to get her. The secretary's promised, everybody's promised; they've had press conferences. I'm sick of the press conferences. "For God's sake, shut up and send us somebody." I have to say that I am so confused on how we can send relife to forign countries so quickly after they have a devistating ordeal but when it happens in our own country we can be so slow to respond. Why did they wait so long to send help. If this had happened in another countrie we would of been all over it in a couple of ours and worked around the clock with countless air craft boats and such but we can't do the same here? WTF. why did it take GWB so long to go to see the areas that were deviststed by Katrina. I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with this pic? am I the only one that has noticed this?

True heros are not made by words - they are only made by actions. I really cannot forget that video of the guy explaining the story which I started this thread - it just makes me fucking crazy and I find myself getting more angry at the shit leadership in the USA as the days go on. |

That was heartbreaking.
|
I saw that clip today around 1pm and it was the first time I ever got teary eyed watching tv.
|
Personally I find that shit inexcusable...
I spent time in the military and as an NBC/disaster preparedness rep, I spent time in remote locations, I spent time working with government credit cards and contractors that were civilians in foreign countries... bottom line = those guys could have hired local companies to assist with transport or have put a fire under the ass of (and/or cash incentives) other unaffected local, state and federal search & rescue teams to beat feet down there in under 2-3 days... No excuse for that shit, not in my opinion...that is seriously fucked up on SO many levels... :/ |
that was so heartbreaking indeed...
