Server help... choosing the right one?

What kind of a server I need?
-hosting about 150 domains
-about 2GB+ BW / day
-about 10 MySQL databases
-running few CMS etc scripts

Any ideas? Specifications... This is new for me. I wish to plug own box on the cable.

Low end will do ...

P4 2.4
1024 memory
the rest depends on space needed
10 mbs port

Maybe even a celeron could do the job...

Thx!
I misstyped that 2GB / day... I have now 1000GB / month, so it should be 20 GB/day. But I guess maybe same kind of box does it?

I would concur, unless you are expecting a good deal of growth, (some CMS programs have a ton of mySQL calls), then maybe a P4 w/ HT and two gig of ram.

Yes, and as Lycanthrope said, if you need more ( re: mysql) you can always upgrade; no need for overkill to begin with.

Get a machine with a Cpanel/WHM installed .

Thanks again! ...lets see how it goes. It seems that i need to get some kind of a master lisence for cpanel/whm as i have space for this server at operator who does only supply bw... and server space. nothing more.

Get your license thru your host. Direct licenses are very expensive.
Depending, it will cost uyou 20.00 to 30.00 for both. They maybe will install it for you. Otherwise, you have to do it, and it is a bit complicated.

oups, didn't notice he supplies " nothing more".

better get your calculator to see if you want to stay with him....

This would be fine, most good companies charge about $250-350 you can get it less but it might cost you allot more later. This is if you want multi hones quality bandwidth with cpanel managed.

Keep in mind running the server right is more important the a little more cpu or ram.

Good luck,
