Police shoot 8 on New Orleans Bridge

I call it "a good start".

Police Shoot 8 on New Orleans Bridge

NEW ORLEANS - Police shot eight people carrying guns on a New Orleans bridge Sunday, killing five or six of them, a deputy chief said.

Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said the shootings took place on the Danziger Bridge, which connects Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River.

He said he had no other details.

High Plains Drifter 09-04-2005 02:36 PM

Yeah, the killing of six people by police with no details is always a "good start".

PGR 09-04-2005 02:37 PM

Were they killed, or just wounded?

I haven't seen anything on CNN yet.

WarChild 09-04-2005 02:38 PM

Finally the game of Counter Strike begins.

Map = ES_New_Orleans

"Team, get in position and wait for my go."

"Enemy down."

NaughtyRob 09-04-2005 02:38 PM

Good, shoot those motherfuckers. If they are not carrying food or diapers or clothing for their families, they should be arrested or shot.

Babagirls 09-04-2005 02:40 PM

And if you read the original post you'll have your answer.

They fucked up!

The people shot were contractors carrying guns for protection.

Who will be to blame?

The looters lawlessness causing cops to assume people carrying guns are a threat, or the contractors trying to protect themselves?

Here's a thought, when armed police confront you, put the guns down.

Sarah_Jayne 09-04-2005 03:11 PM

contractors people..contractors...called not jumping to conclusions from our arm chairs

SmokeyTheBear 09-04-2005 03:13 PM

They just showed a group of cops on t.v. that took over the 10th floor of a hotel to store looted goods. The owner of the hotel asked to look around and they kicked him out ( of his own hotel ) at gunpoint and the news reporter..

Other residents of the hotel are scared for their lives and want out.

SmokeyTheBear 09-04-2005 03:14 PM

A spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers said the victims were contractors on their way to repair a canal.

The contractors were walking across a bridge on their way to launch barges into Lake Pontchartrain to fix the 17th Street Canal, said John Hall, a spokesman for the Corps.

pimpin 09-04-2005 03:14 PM

if you have a gun you don't just get "picked off" by cops unless you aren't listening . It's easy to identify who the cops and National Guard are. If they say put down the fucking gun you put it down otherwise you get shot. . . . I knew the first suckers to get shot would bring a hellstorm and this one will be real bad since it's "do-gooders" . . .

Neworleans head doesn't know what it's hands are doing so it chops them off.Wnat a clusterfuck

WarChild 09-04-2005 03:32 PM

Police came through commandeering drivable vehicles and siphoning gas. Officials took over a hotel and ejected the guests.

An officer pumped his shotgun at a group trying to return to their hotel on Chartres Street.

"This is our block," he said, pointing the gun down a side street. "Go that way."

New Orleans police killed four looters who had opened fire on them on Sunday as rescue teams scoured homes and toxic waters flooding streets to find survivors and recover thousands of bloated corpses.

A fifth looter was in critical condition but no more details were available about the incident in a city where authorities are slowly regaining control after a wave of looting, murders and rapes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
