I must receive my business class upgrade!

I cannot handle another transatlantic flight in economy.
Go waitlist go!

If only I knew who I had to kill.

MandyBlake 09-04-2005 09:47 AM

lol. i would guess there are less openings for business class for an overseas flight than a regular instrastate flight.

I'm flying Tel Aviv - Chicago with a connection in Newark. I got first class Newark - ORD and back, but Tel Aviv - Newark I'm on waitlist on both directions right now... It really sucks. The flight is tomorrow, fat chance I'll get the upgrade for the way there.

Business class on continental is always overbooked. They should raise the prices and frequent flyer miles required for business class or add more seats.

but their biz class is well worth the wait
when i flew to internext , i paid 2100$ which included biz class all the way to FLL (paid biz 1 way , economy back which was upgraded before i left)

Ah, didn't realise you were Israeli.

Their business class is good - but it's not the best.

British airways, Singapore airlines, Lufthansa... all haver better business class in their transatlantic planes.

Agreed...but
1. it's a longer flight (2 connections insted of 1)
2. the planes they are using from TLV- Frankfurt/London sucks ass (and so is the biz class)

Actually with Brittish the flight is often shorter - especially to the westcoast.

Instead of flying TLV - NYC - Los Angeles
you fly TLV - LONDON - Los Angeles and you actually save almost an hour of flight time.

As for the planes being shitty TLV - London/Frankfurt - this varries. You gotta check the type of the plane before making a reservation. They do have 777/747 doing TLV - London. I flew one just a few weeks ago.

Oh well, anything is better than El Al.

Ya, since that's the airlines fault... :helpme

I'm almost to the point where I can't fly coach anymore either. You upgrade once and realize it's just that much better. The best was from BRU-JFK I upgraded from discount coach to first for $395 on AA.

robfantasy 09-08-2005 06:27 PM

whats the best way to get cheap/free upgraded seats

The best way I know of is to join Frequent Flyer programs, fly a lot, stick to the same airlines, and when you reserve coach try and upgrade at the counter when checking in and be really nice to the people there. If you are a FF member you have better chances and if you fly a lot with them better... and of course if you have miles you can purchase upgrades.

Or you can get a job at an airline... :upsidedow Or at least have friends/family with airline jobs and you can fly very cheaply, usually in first class if there are open seats.
