Who Would You Nominate for the Supreme Court??

If you were President, who would you like to see on the Supreme Court making life and death decisions for our people?

I know some people are going to be posting jokes which is OK; but, I'd like some serious discussion as well.

Would we like someone with the social conscience of Michael Moore, the legal expertise of Lou Sirkin, and the savy of Bill Gates....?

The golf skills of Tiger would come in handy at the Country Club, too.

Give me your dreams, wishes, and fantasies...

He was convicted of perjury and was disbarred...so I think he is not eligible.

As much as I love the guy, Micheal Moore wouldn't be a judge ... he's not objective ... beeing a judge = beeing objective

i don't know that much about her, but Phyllis J. Hamilton sounds interesting. also she has years more experience as a commissioner and a judge than roberts, who actually only has a couple years experience, and only as part of a deciding body.

on the other hand, her beliefs make it impossible that she would be nominated.

Maybe Hillary Clinton which would take her out of the running for President, be good for the women folk, and the Dems would support. Hell, GWB isn't running again so he could move a bit more to the center if he wanted to.

Clinton is not eligible. He lost his law licence after being impeached because he lied under oath.

Anyone who correctly knows how to interpret the U.S. Constitution and will not legislate from the bench is fine by me.

PIGSHIT.

I don't reply to you anymore, but I can't let pass such a lie !

Contrary to a popular public misconception, Clinton was successfully impeached (that is, the House did successfully send him to be tried by the Senate). He was not, however, successfully convicted of any of the charges (which is why he was not removed from office), nor was he given any penalty (beyond the censure of the House of Representatives).

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, July 29) -- A federal judge has ordered President Bill Clinton to pay $90,686 for giving false testimony in the civil sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by Paula Jones.

In January, Clinton reached an agreement with independent counsel Robert Ray that suspended his Arkansas law license for five years and ordered the former president to pay $25,000 in fines to that state's bar officials. Clinton also gave up any claim of repayment of his legal fees in the matter.

In addition from the very article that you linked to...

Quote:

The perjury allegations provoked the Arkansas Supreme Court to suspend Clinton's law license in April 2000. Clinton agreed to the 5-year suspension and to pay a $25,000 fine on January 19, 2001. The following October, the U.S. Supreme Court once again suspended Clinton's law license and gave him 40 days to convince them that he should not be disbarred permanently. Clinton surrendered his law license in response to these actions. Clinton has since made a living as an author and speaker, and arguably is no more than symbolically affected by the loss of his license.

Does "not legislate from the Bench" mean "maintain the status quo"?

Here is a nominee for you. Might cause a bit of a flip flop on certain issues though.

It has been said that former Solicitor General and Yale Professor Robert H. Bork was the most qualified nominee ever. I would agree. The hatchet job by the far left was outrageous.
