I think you will find alot of guys join for a sense of direction, a new adventure, a challenge and they currently dont have much to look forward to in their situation. Also remember the majority join and never see war. :2 cents:

Been there, done that. But it was not voluntary at my time. At least not here. What I don't understand is why so few people with money join? Is it cowardness and empty words, when they let poor people fight for them?
