:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
I couldn't believe it until I saw it myself....

Ray Nagin 09-03-2005 09:01 AM

the fee goes to hurricane protection for their servers :2 cents:

tgpshack 09-03-2005 09:02 AM

are you kidding? they are really taking their own fee?

If 1 million people donated to red cross through epass and they took 25 cents per person. That would make them $250k in revenue due to hurricane donations. CRAZY!

jimthefiend 09-03-2005 09:05 AM

Name ONE charitable group that DOESNT skim an operating fee.

I think a quarter is reasonable. Thats WAY less than I'm sure Paypal is taking.

damn, that must have really set you back.

completely understandable for them to take a small fee because in the real world you can't really do anything for free.

jimthefiend 09-03-2005 09:16 AM

You guys arent factoring in the fact that THEY have to pay the CC companies and banks that I'm sure arent waiving any fees.

:2 cents:

Again, .25 is more than fair.

xclusive 09-03-2005 09:25 AM

They are doing a very good thing that fee is a cost of business bothing wrong with it thank you epass for helping out

Will you conspiracy theorist assholes pay attention for a change? How many threads do we need on this subject and how many times do we need to remind....

EPASSPORTE IS REIMBURSING THE FEE. JETTIS IS WAIVING ALL ACH FEES.

This disaster hit quite quickly and ePassporte decided rather than attempting a programming change, why not deal with an accounting headache after the fact and get a relief effort up post-haste.

Nevermind the personal donations both companies have made.

This is one reason that Epassporte rocks :thumbsup

Contributors might seriously consider an alternative to the Red Cross, such as the Salvation Army. Memories are apparently short, but it took protests after 911 to force the Red Cross to release all the money they had raised following that tragedy. And that wasn't the first time the Red Cross held back money for its own future development and other projects from the funds raised after a major disaster.

FYI although some charities discourage it, you should be able to specify what you want your donation used for. One reason I recommended the SA is that they have put up special forms for hurricane Katrina relief and marked it as the default option for donations.

That and I am sure ePassporte will add a little extra themselves.
