Like a lot of people on this board have already done, we will be making a donation to the Red Cross to help hurricane victims. I encourage all on the board to give what they can, even if it is not much.

To me these 50 + photos -- even more so than the videos seen on television over the last few days -- best capture the diverse, deadly, and devastating wrath of Katrina.

Yes, I did see 48 and 49. In the one pic white folk were salvaging food. In the other pic, 2 black youth were shown looting a dozen boxes of new shoes between them.

Yes. these are very tragic images.

It is something about still photography that just seems much more powerful than television video to me.

These photos are so good you can almost hear and smell the surroundings on each picture. And that's what great photographic work is all about.

I am sure there will be some photograpy/media awards won for some of these pics.

Maybe even a pulitzer winner in this bunch.

The photographers chronicled this tragedy in an amazing way.
