USA cannot cope

If the US cannot cope when a natural expected disaster hits, what will it do if something unexpected happens?

Many countries have natural disasters, but they get sorted out.

This was expected. It was simple. Move people out before the tornado hit, then move the army in afterwards. Its not that hard to work out.

Why such a mess?

But then again, if something as simple as this gets the USA in a mess, its no wonder the Iraq situation is stuffed.

Nah, it's nothing.
Moving and relocating over one million people over an area bigger than most european countries is nothing.
Forget the fact that all these people will have to start from zero in a different place.

Oh we forgot, the UK experiences this stuff atleast once a month! :1orglaugh

Tornado? haha.

Sure. moving hundreds of thousands of people miles to safety at the drop of a hat is a simple and relatively and easy to accomplish task. Right dumb fuck?

what form of transportation should've been used? Some sort of teleportation ray?

Wiggles 09-03-2005 04:12 AM

i think they handled 9/11 better then this mess.

I think trying to move out 1.5 million people, most of which had no where to go and no way of getting there, out of a place bigger than the whole of the UK isnt as easy as you seem to think Allan.

But what concerns me is that they cant seem to cope with the aftermath and like you say they had warning that something was going to happen.

The pictures Im watching on telly are unbeleivable. It looks worse than any third world country and the behaviour of lots of the people there is breath taking. Ive never seen such out right evel in a crisis. Crisis are a time to pull together. 9/11 showed the world that America can pull together. This has shown the world that they can also pull apart

It really seems like nothing is being done. The US government acted far quicker to the Tsunami crisis in different countries 1000's of miles away than it did in its own country.

If I was a US citizen I'd want to know why has the government not acted as quickly, infact not really acted at all, to a crisis in its own country like it does in helping other countries.

Also after watching the scenes on the telly, I can see why US citizens carry guns. To defend yourselves from your neighbours.

These events are unbeleivable

Try moving everyone out of Wolverhampton and into Hamburg and let me know how you get on.

The New Orleans situation is much different than most natural disasters. First the city and surrounding areas were gutted by Hurricane Katrina. Then a great flood poured through. Those people did not get out because they didn't have enough money to leave and go anywhere. Why the response has been so slow to help people I really don't know. No one does. But this will be a major turning point for America. A lot of self-evaulation will go on.

I hope this hurricane starts a negro revolution that takes over the South. Why? Because it's about damn time they get some attention about how shitty so many of em live. Sure, there's poor white people too, lots of em. Except white people are pussies and would never take up arms against anyone they know is stronger than them.

kmanrox 09-03-2005 06:20 AM

the closest to a natural disaster the UK has had was when Thatcher left office...

Vendzilla 09-03-2005 06:25 AM

Two sad things
the people that are being moved, will sue
and no other country will be present in relief, like we always are to others

wjxxx 09-03-2005 07:14 AM

local government failed, they did nothing

Ramster 09-03-2005 07:17 AM

Moving that many people was just not possible. But what Bush is NOT doing is terrible.

WHY are the army and other reserves not in there bringing food & water and getting people out of there? It's a disgrace. Bush flew in to take a look. Take a fucking look? For what!!!!??? Watch TV and you'll see that you Bush do not need to go there. Your troops and reserves need to bringing food, water and transportation. People are dying and the Mayor has balls for saying so. Good for him!!!
