How to handle lots of repetitive & boring work?

I really need some advice of how to keep myself active. I have to do like 100hours of extremely boring and repetitive work that needs lots of concentration. Now I work for 1 hour then take a rest of 20 minutes. Works quite good, but sometimes I just can't go back to work. :helpme

headphones and turn of all instant messaging tools...if you are working then you are at work act like it.....or smoke some dank and watch the weather channel your call...

20 min. break is too long.
Put on some good music, fresh coffee..

1 hour, 5 min. break, another hour,10 min. break. Only 1 big break for 30 mins to lunch.
That's how I do that..

then I work, I work. I don't chat or do any other stuff. But the problem is that the work I'm doing isn't fun at all, it's very boring. I will try the headphones with some nice radio.

Dude, I know where you're coming from! I just spent 5, 15 hour days doing data import type stuff. Same fucking thing over and over....thought I was going to croak! What kept me going was preparing myself mentally before the task, and like others said, a ton of coffee and good music!

I would also treat myself to one 5 minute masterbation session every hour to whoever my favorite web slut is at the moment. You'd be surprised how fast the hour goes by looking forward to those 5 minute sessions!

But yea, definitely cut down on those breaks. 10 minute max.

plan for it. get yourself a good rest days before. not necessarily coffee, but I'd recommend some tea.

Bobby_the_pyn 09-03-2005 02:49 AM

Yea, try some good green tea. You can get the caffine free kind and it works too. Get up and take a walk around outside for some air if you can.

Kicker 09-03-2005 02:55 AM

you can outsource it

that would work but you only get a 1/4 of the work done in the same time. :winkwink:

The Music advice is the best...make a large playlist of your tunes something chilling tho, don't put some heavy stuff

If you need some "relax" tunes advice hit me up on icq ;)

polish_aristocrat 09-03-2005 04:16 AM

MikeVega 09-03-2005 08:36 AM

I find having my Ipod shuffle works for me ..if the TV is on i end up watching and if it's just quite i go nuts ... helps that Ray and Tim are in the office next to mine so i can get up and walk around and talk for 5 mins every once and awhile .. :thumbsup

Sosa 09-03-2005 08:51 AM

have a drink while your working. Not too many though :) I tend to do boring work late at night and it goes by faster.

MandyBlake 09-03-2005 09:05 AM

make a game out of it. see how many you can do in an hour or something like that. it always helps me.

u-Bob 09-03-2005 10:54 AM

get a monkey to do it for you.

(no this was not a racist post)

NeXCiS 09-03-2005 10:59 AM

Repetition

If it doesnt require a whole lot of decision making write a program that does it for you.
