Not to be insensitive but I couldn't help but notice...
 

On CNN just now this family were splitting up, one of the babies had measles... etc etc... They had nothing no clothes. One lady said her sick baby only had the shoes he was wearing and she herself didn't even know who's clothes she was wearing...

The other lady, maybe the grandmother? She was smoking cigarettes. I just caught that with the few belongings they kept sacred and close to them, she didn't forget to grab that last carton of cigs!

Not only are people starving, grieving the loss of loved ones, dying of thirst and heat, but alot of them are reaching their limits of mental stability because they're coming down from severe nicotine withdrawls...

just think how many are coming down from hard drugs like H

it's BS that supplies could not have been dropped even if they had to drop paratroopers & marines with them to provide some order .. they could have even dropped APC's and mobile command centers if they wanted to and the chain of command is BS, the mayor wants them there and if the gov does not then she should be shot herself.

No shit.. the mayor was trying to explain that too. I wonder if there's an actual number estimation of hard drug addicts in the area that stayed. That's what caused alot of the outlandish behavior. More than being hot, hungry, and thirsty...

They should have sent helicopters in and dropped load of crack and heroine on the opposite side of town as everyone else in the dome...

I think alot of the wild behavior has to do with mental issues if they didn't have them before I am sure many of them have them now a person can only take so much stress before they crack. I think a lot of the looters are just trying to survive and there is a lot of anger over the whole situation that is making them becom irational. I think that so many people have gotten hung up on the racial issue that they have failed to see the big picture.

I just saw yet another clip of a family on a balcony. You can see 3 backpacks sitting there and a big dude waving frantically at the helicopters with a carton of cigs in his hand..

you know how many junkies are in New Orleans? i heard a cop on TV saying they think alot of the random gunfire is coming from junkies who are literally going insane because they can't get their fix and are just shooting off guns aimlessly.

i thought about this right away... obviously the cream of the crop did not stay behind. as much as we all want to be humans and convince ourselves its just typical people who need help, its also a lot of disturbed people, junkies, drunks, criminals, gang bangers etc.

WEll im not rich and I were in that situation and could take only 2 things when evacuating, I know the first thing would be my cigs. I have a harder time with no cigs than not eating. Been there done that. Second thing? Not sure but water would be really high on the list. I ALWAYS keep a gallon in the fridge. ALWAYS lol

Funny I was just blowing my kids some crap about this after I read your post. They're all over me about quitting and I'm getting ready to make the big move. I just jokingly said to them that if I had two things to bring out with me, it would be one of them and a carton of cigs... I just got pelted with a shitload of pillows. :helpme

I have not even smoked a ciggie in my life let alone done any drugs but I can't honestly say that if I was in their situation I wouldn't take a hit on a joint that was passed my way.

This morning I was watching on CNN how people had to have their bags checked before they could get on the bus. The guards were taking anything that looked "too new" and dumping out their liquor and taking their cigarettes before allowing the person on the bus. What a way to kick a person when they're down huh? They'd rather poor out the alcohol on the ground than let some poor distraught soul drown their sorrows for some temporary relief.

IMO, those national guard were taking a little too much pleasure in ordering these people around, acting like they are almost God himself. I know you have to leave your emotions behind when called to do a job like that but fuck... whatever happened to a little compassion?

New Orleans has a huge drug problem so I'm sure its been sheer hell for them.

I can see the headlines already "RRRED caught looting cigarettes when her attempt to quit failed"

Take away my smokes and I'll start shooting rescue helicopters too.
