Hurricane question

I happened to be moving to Costa Rica when it hit, and I haven't watched much coverage.

Wasn't there about two days notice to evacuate that city? I mean, I can understand if you're poor and can't afford a car or bus ticket, but I think I could walk about 50 miles in 2 days if I really had to. I can understand the sick and elderly, but what about all these people looting? Their feet seem to be working well enough for that?

I mean if the choice is certain disaster or a long walk, how do you make the wrong choice? Says something about the gene pool when 45,000 people make that wrong choice.

No, I'm talking about New Orleans. It's just I was in the process of traveling for a few days, and haven't had any real access to Television or the Internet so I'm not really well informed on what exactly happened.

Sorry, I was just being a dick. That's actually a good question. I think the problem is the chaos isn't just in New Orleans, it's all over, and the buses they're waiting for are to take them far away to places like Texas where it's not fucked up?

I was thinking the exact same thing, average walking speed is 5mph, you could walk 100 miles in less than a day if you had to.

At least if your walking you feel like your doing something when noone else is doing anything for you. Sure walking for 2 days straight would suck, 20 hours nonstop would suck.. but it sure beats doing nothing to help yourself :(
