mkx 09-01-2005 11:36 PM

Thanks Young, think you can take one of the before pics and turn it into what it should look like? I am going to quickly grab some chicken wings and a coffee so I can edit the rest of these photo's tonight. I'll be back in 20ish

Doctor Dre 09-01-2005 11:37 PM

Dont use any of Photoshops Auto settings. They suck. Use the auto preview to your advantage and just tweak the contrast, color balance and levels until it is to your liking. Play with the levels yourself. Unsharp Mask words wonders...use it at the end.

Other than that I used a combination of the blur, sharpen, clone, and burn tools for her skin, facial features, and the background.

Practice makes perfect.

mkx 09-02-2005 12:14 AM

Thanks again. So this should be done over and over again for 1000's of pictures or is there an easy way to automate it.

Vitasoy 09-02-2005 12:18 AM

Yea the tennis one only looks good.

Well if you take a certain set with the same lighting, in the same area. Then you should be able to create an indvidual action script for each set that can give you pretty much the results you desire as far as color correction, contrast, sharpness etc.

of course the touch ups and airbrushing part can't be automated.

ok now im off to bed.

mkx 09-02-2005 12:26 AM

Ok that sounds reasonable. Thanks for your help!

PussyTeenies 09-02-2005 12:28 AM

porn-dog 09-02-2005 01:59 AM

yeah Im no PS geek but the originals look way better

Bobby_the_pyn 09-02-2005 02:13 AM

I agree, dont use the auto features.
and as fas as action scripts go, it's almost impossible because your lighting is always going to be different. I like to play w/ the curves & levels and some times the brightness/contast-although its rare.

Alright thanks! I'll crop them all first and then brainstorm a decent procedure.

DutchTeenCash 09-02-2005 02:18 AM

Should I bother making the originals in the first setting more bright or should I just focus on the sharpness?

uh blur sharpen contrast and 25 others. Im not even half as good as others are here, get someone to redo your pics, there are plenty who make TGP thumbs etc, they do an amazing job, just post a request... If you get a few 100 done theyll get you a nice price Im sure.

mkx 09-02-2005 02:32 AM

Alright yah maybe I will do that. What's the market price per pick for a few hundred?

reynold 09-02-2005 02:33 AM

some of your optimization are too sharp. anyway you are doing good. :thumbsup

Paul&John 09-02-2005 02:39 AM

:)

BillyHoe 09-02-2005 02:51 AM

I think you need to adjust the setting on your camera, instead of using Photoshop as your save all. You're not letting enough light in. Even the outdoor shot looks darks.

mkx 09-02-2005 03:20 AM

Alright thanks for the help and tips everyone. I will maybe get someone to do the photo editing and thumbs for now.

I highly recommend the book:

The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby for anyone wanting to improve their PS skills.

Smartest post in the thread so far. Fiddle around with your camera settings and learn what they do, and you'll have less work to do after the fact, if any.

The tennis one is pretty good. And the adjustments the other guys have posted look great.

what he said

sinclair 09-02-2005 09:12 AM

I agree with the above post. Do more leg work to adjust in camera and save time in post production. You really need to work on your white balance more than anything.

Sinclair

mkx 09-02-2005 01:45 PM

Alright well I just picked up a 20d and was just fiddling around with it in auto mode. I will adjust the settings on it for the next shoot.
