New Orleans...This Shouldn't Be Like This...
 

I found this on another forum while surfing around today. I quote it in its' entirety.

"Crap I just heard some lady call on the radio all frantic saying that there have been prison breaks and the former inmates are raping nurses at the hospital. Not to mention the local police can't go out becasue they are being shot at. Not to be alarmist but it sounds a little, er, fucked right now?

Isn't THIS why we have a government and pay taxes. The red cross are the only people that seem to be doing anything, we should have National Guard all over there but they are in Iraq. Looks like a goddamn 3rd world country. Of course there is looting, that is (sadly) human nature, the federal government knows that.

We should have taken this seriously from Monday and it never would have gotten this bad. Not to politisize it, but Bush JUST called off his vacation yesterday afternoon to give the worst speech ever that helped nothing? WTF?? FEMA asked for money to secure New Orleans in 2001 and they have been given 1 in every 5 dollars they need and this is what happens, meanwhile the rich get the largest tax cuts ever and during a war no less. Im sooo pissed. This could really have been prevented, especially in the richest country in the world.

A lot of those people aren't looters, they are just poor people that couldnt afford the gas/car to get out and they are litterally running up to journalists begging for help and food. If I were a soldier in Iraq and my family was stranded in that shit I would steal a plane and fly back here to get them I would be so pissed at the government.

No matter how you spin it, this is being handled very badly. People are literally being dehumanized into a medieval or possibly even primal state. There is no co-ordination. Some police and firemen actually went in with the looters.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR THIS in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. People dying in the streets of stravation and dehydration. Rapes, murders and assaults running rampant. I can't stand it and the fact that one of my friends is hellbent on going down and risking her ass in this mess is probably one thing that's bugging me about this.... :Oh crap
