The DirectNIC guys in NO are being reamed!

"Looks like hundreds of people consider you a hero. To me, you and your little company are racist self-righteous pricks playing survivalist fantasy games and hoarding critical supplies from a city in desperate need. What pisses me off even more is that you are doing this for an ISP, and act like it's more important to keep some company's server going than to have power for a hospital running short on everything." |

FUck you dickface. Surivival of those who can survive. He was smart enough to have things the way they are. |
j/k.... or was i
|
Yeah I saw that. I think that some people just think he's a blogger, not someone who's trying to run a company.

it's taken from his blog (try reading the provided links nex time) |
LOL what if all that diesel they have stockpiled explodes

Idiot, i didnt say any of that TO you or else I wouldnt have quoted someone elses thoughts. Try understanding whats going on around you sometime. |

I've never heard of spontaneuous diesel explosions. |

Idiots. What they don't realize is by keeping DirectNic and Zipa up, they are keeping OTHER companies in business. I know these guys and they sure as hell aren't there in misery for the glory of it all.
|
"I couldnt agree with you more. These people are being applauded for tending to servers with their 750kW generator, while people are dying of dehydration in the streets surrounding them. They've got 18 barrels of diesel, while the hospitals have staff manually working oxygen masks so people can breath. But you cant reason with these people and their fandoms, because for them, the internet is there life, and as such, indespensable. And for you retards, their pipe has no value to the DOD or DHS. They have their own networks, and have little use for a public one."
I see the points from both sides. |

They have said they can use backups in Florida.... why not just do it? |
I love how the media makes people, working people, out to be the evil in this world. How would bandwidth, non medical people, and a 30 ton generator (that can not be moved) help any of this. They stated clearly they went to the hospital with a router to get them internet. They are asking for Ammo, how about the governer give them a free pass to clip looters... The current politcal environment has made it so the common man does not want to get involved, but instead of looking at their policies and their retoric they point the finger of blame elsewhere. You wanted a kinder gentler, politically correct world -- deal with itl.
Last I checked, people running businesses, are what makes this country and all economies function. If they choose to make a blog about their first hand experience, it is their right. Freedom of speech. They chose to stick around to save their business, while others stuck around to steal from other people's businesses. I have gotten more info off that site than any other. Pictures, the links to the cam, the link to the scanner broadcast, the opinions of military, etc etc Being in Europe it is frustrating not having a live feed, and the 24 hour coverage I am used to in major events. So any outlet of information is welcomed. |
You mean to tell me the hospital, didnt stock up on supplies, but directnic did, and your bitching at directnic, for being prepared???
I appluad directnic.... :thumbsup |
When did it become directnic's responsibility to power the city of New Orleans?
|
"You mean to tell me the hospital, didnt stock up on supplies, but directnic did, and your bitching at directnic, for being prepared???"

Those guys (directnic) probably have all their doors locked and are in fear for there lives, to protect thier business and alot of our businesses.
But then again, whats a crackhead going to do with a server? |
WHAT DOES RUNNING A GENERATOR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH PEOPLE DYING OF DEHYDRATION?
sucks for the people who didn't prepare properly. good job Directnic :thumbsup |
No one has mentioned that there are NO communications in the city - no phones, no cell phones, no satellites.. these people at DirectNIC are providing communications.
Read the blog posts and you'll see why it matters. |
The major NOCS in Toronto, Ontario get priority over the power before the hospitals.
On that note, it isnt DNs fault that the govt didnt send generators and fuel to the hospitals prior to this happening. |

dont ya love it...the heroes at directnic are protecting their property and their customers but they are being made out to be evil bad guys hording much needed supplies....all I know is I know who I want to do business with in the future...that these guys think enough of their customers and their business to keep both in operation is a testament to libertarian ideals, Ayn Rand would would be proud of them...as am I.
|
If DirectNIC goes down, Internet commerce on a worldwide level could take a massive hit. Call me a prick, but that commerce is more valuable than the few lives those supplies MIGHT save.
Good luck Mike and everyone else who's bunkered up at the DirectNIC HQ. You need it. |

its his business to keep things running... simple as that.. So they are supposed to give away supplies that power the livley hood of more people than what is being hit by the hurricane? fuck that.. They are doing their job. By protecting the livleyhood of others. Duke Duke |
