looting for food is one thing but most videos ive seen are people taking dvd players and other electronics. id take food in an instant, but anyone stealing because they're greedy assholes need to be lined up and shot

I was just thinking and really don't understand how so many people are out of food after only 3 days. I have enough food in my house to eat well for over 3 weeks easily. If I knew a big storm was coming this weekend I'd probably go buy another 2 weeks of food just to be safe.

I think taking food and water when hungry or thristy doesn't count as looting, but the idiots who are now pulling cops off of search and rescue duty to stop their ghetto asses from stealing LCD's that will be ruined before the end of the day deserve to be shot.

Nope. But the water obviously isn't up to everyone's attic in New Orleans or they would have no stores to loot, would they?

How about a better question - "who would knowingly stay in the path of a hurricane in a city that is already below sea level" - blah blah - "they are too poor to leave" blah blah blah... and? I can't imagine any scenario where I knew my life and that of my wife was in direct danger and I just said "well... lets bring some blankets and matches to the attic and keep our fingers crossed".

Well anybody who has lived in the DC area for a long time would remember the Mt. Pleasant riot. Well, I was in that riot back when I was in college and I was young and stupid and I'll tell you that the mob mentality takes over...We were taking shit that we didn't even want or need. We just took it because we could...I remember yelling to some kids who were about to set a news car on fire to yank the cellphone/radio before they torched it but they wouldn't listen..They were too set on setting the car on fire...So I just reached in the car and yanked the phone...I didn't even need that phone but I just wanted to take something.

So if I was out there in the middle of that looting, I'd go for food, water, jewelry (lightweight, valuable, and tradeable), and guns.....Sitting there trying on new clothes is just stupid and that shows how materialistic they are..

A lot of those people could have afforded to leave if they weren't buying all that designer bullshit with their hard earned money in the first place....All I know is that I'm going down there next month and see it first hand.

Oh and I'd take liquor also...being in a disaster would require something to help me get my mind off of the situation temporarily..Plus it's also tradeable.

There wasn't a hurricane or any natural disaster going on....All of us could go home after the riot and fry up a cheeseburger and watch tv. And the kids who were going to torch the car were white.

pardon me for not being a meteorologist, but isn't it possible that many people in NO are stealing just because they can for the most part? why do you automatically assume its for good reasons and not bad reasons when you already admit that people will willfully do it just because they can?

stop defending them then. this whole thread was started to make excuses for these assholes looting. taking food that would spoil otherwise isnt looting, its surviving. that could be the reason the news isnt covering people stealing food, because its understandable.

water & food, yes. anything else, no.

there is now martial law now to curb the new and quickly growing "commodities market" which is all apparently innocent and a necessity at this point.
