The site I just found when a design company sent me a link looking to fill a business need we have for some new sites:

Oddly similar. Opinions anyone?

Not really. Colors the same but the template layout is different.

Uhm. Am I missing something here, because those two sites look nothing alike to me?

They both look like the generic adult tours that are a dime a dozen these days?

Doesn't look copied to me. There might have been some "inspiration" there though.

Similar colors, and somewhat similar header. I wouldn't say that was rip off or a copy though. JMHO

I came accross it so randomly, it just caught me personally off guard, most likely, because I have seen our site so many times.

Wasn't really bitching or calling our attorney in the first place, just seeing what others think.

As does just about every other site using crap cookie cutter style tours. If you looked hard enough you could make the same claim of a few dozen sites. It comes when you have a total lack of unoriginality on your site design which 95%+ of the industry are currently guilty of.

Wow, we have been called a lot of things, unoriginal has never been one of them.

So they copied your choice of color selections?

How old is your site...that has been in the Webinc portfolio for QUITE SOME TIME...as that page hasn't been updated in at least 8 months.

Maybe your designer was the one who was "inspired".

Maybe copy was the wrong word. Posted already above...."Inspiration" is better.

I can definally say the webinc designer saw your site first. If you can call copy as inspiration then fine. Kinda sucks this come from webinc though... I had big respect for them but when you create so many designs, its hard to come up with new stuff.

I'd say there is a higher correllation than normal. PublicNudityExposed was most likely used as inspiration for that webinc site.

I don't think it's a reflection on the company, but perhaps the laziness of a designer who admired the work that you did.

I think it's different enough that the designer could say that he used creative license to modify his inspiration.

Like I mentioned before...the Webinc design is more than 8 months old.

Still wondering how old the J&A site is. Wasn't AMP with Adult.com still last year?

Ours is older. Amp was with us.

I would be willing to say they go their "inspiration" from your site, but it's not a blatent rip-off. I am a stickler for copyrights, and I personally wouldn't care much about this one. :2 cents:

Come on mano - you know webinc.com doesn't copy from anyone, anytime...

I sent this thread to our project manager Peter and will let you know his response. As you know we do hundreds and hundreds of paysite designs all the time. I am sure it happens that colors can be used over and over.

Yeh I know we haven't updated our portfolio in quite a few months - we have been so damm busy over here.

Anyone that knows the team at webinc.com, our work, our rep. , etc knows that we hold ourselves to pretty high standards in this industry.

How many threads have you guys seen posted by designers or companies, etc that say oh no someone stole or copied another "Webinc" design :(
