Our site was copied?

Our Site:

www.publicnudityexposed.com

The site I just found when a design company sent me a link looking to fill a business need we have for some new sites:

http://www.webinc.com/portfolio/websites/momsaslut/

Oddly similar. Opinions anyone?

bjjb 08-31-2005 02:14 PM

Not really. Colors the same but the template layout is different.

BoyAlley 08-31-2005 02:14 PM

Uhm. Am I missing something here, because those two sites look nothing alike to me?

They both look like the generic adult tours that are a dime a dozen these days?

Kind of has the same feel though huh?

High Plains Drifter 08-31-2005 02:15 PM

Doesn't look copied to me. There might have been some "inspiration" there though.

MacDaddyPlaya 08-31-2005 02:15 PM

Similar colors, and somewhat similar header. I wouldn't say that was rip off or a copy though. JMHO

WillyFRESH 08-31-2005 02:15 PM

perhaps your site was the muse for this one.
somewhat similar, same colors, but the images are definitely different.

That is a good way of putting it "inspiration". I like that. :)

sternyduke 08-31-2005 02:16 PM

nope. it's the web, get over it.

I came accross it so randomly, it just caught me personally off guard, most likely, because I have seen our site so many times.

Wasn't really bitching or calling our attorney in the first place, just seeing what others think.

As does just about every other site using crap cookie cutter style tours. If you looked hard enough you could make the same claim of a few dozen sites. It comes when you have a total lack of unoriginality on your site design which 95%+ of the industry are currently guilty of.

Wow, we have been called a lot of things, unoriginal has never been one of them.

candyflip 08-31-2005 02:23 PM

So they copied your choice of color selections?

Step away from the Crackpipe.

TeaseEntertainments2 08-31-2005 02:23 PM

thats our site..
webinc designed it for us..
the only instructions i gave them when they made it was "use a green color scheme please"

Dalai lama 08-31-2005 02:24 PM

Doesnt look like a copy to me. Logo is in same place though.

Verbal 08-31-2005 02:24 PM

not even close

candyflip 08-31-2005 02:25 PM

How old is your site...that has been in the Webinc portfolio for QUITE SOME TIME...as that page hasn't been updated in at least 8 months.

Maybe your designer was the one who was "inspired".

Maybe copy was the wrong word. Posted already above...."Inspiration" is better.

Embrace it. I'm as unoriginal as it gets.

etech 08-31-2005 02:26 PM

No,
alot of the reality sites look like that,
same colors though.

teadrinker 08-31-2005 02:30 PM

I can definally say the webinc designer saw your site first. If you can call copy as inspiration then fine. Kinda sucks this come from webinc though... I had big respect for them but when you create so many designs, its hard to come up with new stuff.

EroticySteve 08-31-2005 02:32 PM

I'd say there is a higher correllation than normal. PublicNudityExposed was most likely used as inspiration for that webinc site.

I don't think it's a reflection on the company, but perhaps the laziness of a designer who admired the work that you did.

I think it's different enough that the designer could say that he used creative license to modify his inspiration.

Like I mentioned before...the Webinc design is more than 8 months old.

Still wondering how old the J&A site is. Wasn't AMP with Adult.com still last year?

EroticySteve 08-31-2005 02:32 PM

TeaDrinker beat me to my point.

Tat2Jr 08-31-2005 02:33 PM

a copy?????? this has got to be a joke.

fozz111 08-31-2005 02:35 PM

not the same!

Dirty Dane 08-31-2005 02:36 PM

Looks like a plagiate, but at least their site don't hijack the browser....

Ours is older. Amp was with us.

aico 08-31-2005 02:41 PM

I would be willing to say they go their "inspiration" from your site, but it's not a blatent rip-off. I am a stickler for copyrights, and I personally wouldn't care much about this one. :2 cents:

sextoyking 08-31-2005 02:45 PM

Ibanker,

Come on mano - you know webinc.com doesn't copy from anyone, anytime...

I sent this thread to our project manager Peter and will let you know his response. As you know we do hundreds and hundreds of paysite designs all the time. I am sure it happens that colors can be used over and over.

Thanks

Todd

wargames 08-31-2005 02:45 PM

same colors thats about it

I don't really care that much at all either. Just seeing what others reactions would be is all.

You can def. say? How is that Teadrinker? We come up with new designs all the time.

Yeh I know we haven't updated our portfolio in quite a few months - we have been so damm busy over here.

Next time please show or use facts when making blanket statements.

Thanks

Todd

Hey no worries. I wasn't attacking you. Just looking to see what everyone thinks. Glad to see you didn't take it as an attack.... I would like to know what your designer has to say though. I find it interesting.

Np at all.

I am no designer so it's best not to ask me in depth design questions but I will let you know what Peter says about it.

Thanks

Todd

Anyone that knows the team at webinc.com, our work, our rep. , etc knows that we hold ourselves to pretty high standards in this industry.

How many threads have you guys seen posted by designers or companies, etc that say oh no someone stole or copied another "Webinc" design :(

loverboy 08-31-2005 03:17 PM

i only have high respects to the crew at WebInc.

:smokin
