I'm not up on name server stuff and so on.. but assuming I have domains registered with them but use my own name servers will my sites go down if DirectNic goes down because of all the flooding?

Nope domain registration companies are just resellers of the icann, they input the data to icanns two major network stations in the us and all the data sits there heavenly protected.
Now if you host there that's another story. Registration and name servers are all safe. |

Its awesome what they are doing, but Im not convinced that they will be able/allowed to see it out to the bitter end.
People may also argue that those generators are better off being used to keep hospitals running. |
