My thoughts on why the sig market is dead:
Because board owners started placing ads in the "content" areas of the board. Such as under peoples names when they post, etc. From the numbers I've seen this has reduced the effectiveness and clicks on sigs by at least 50% over the last year or two.
|
so you are saying im a lil too late to sell my spot? damn im always late to the party
|
nah, it just died out for the same reason that all other fads do.

I dont think an effective marketing campaign is a fad. The numbers died down, which caused the buyers to stop or significantly lower prices. Less clicks = less effective campaigns = less people that can do a profitable sig campaign |
Perhaps for some people it has died off, but it has been over saturated with people willing to sell it for 50 bucks that sort of ruined it

Yes the board has been skinned a lot lately :) |
TCG ppl still have the best sig deals i'd say, and some of them post just BS

i don't know why you think it is dead...if you are a valuable member with solid posts, you still get a good amount each month for sigs...when I sell mine, i don't ever get less than $350 a month, usually higher though...the price I sell for depends on how much alcohol is needed to restock the bar on my back porch
right now i just need some toons done, so whoever jumps on that is getting a sweet deal for sure |
sig market is far from dead........... :2 cents:

What are you making from it? |

So how much are sigs worth these days?
|
In the case of GFY, what does Lensman get from sigs? Nothing. So why would he care if you don't like him putting in adverts from paid sponsors?
|
Another factor could be the maturation of the online adult industry.
Once upon a time, there were only a few webmaster boards, now it seems like every adult company promotes one. |

2 things... Market is NOT dead.... and the ads underneath the names have been there before the sig craze... |
sig spots are still a good source for sponsors IMHO.
Buying a few sig spots and having thousands of pageviews to each thread in the end is still good marketing value for the dollar. The larger sponsors realize this, hence they continually buys sigs each month. :2 cents: |

Yeah I miss the gold days, where Sleazy sold his sig for 12,5k/month :/

I would say way less get $1k for their sig today. Maybe 1-4. |
sponsors are looking for a ROI on sigs. branding only works out so much with some people.
if you can produce solid deals, contacts, webmasters, or traffic to the program in your sig then it is worth the sponsors to buy it.. and even renew. alot of people think that they have a big ass post count and that should be enuff to sell it. thats not the fact. |
I am booked till March 2006 .
Being serious. |
what is the sig market? :1orglaugh
|
well then again you do get a FPA with my sig hehehe

exactly, my post #1 was saying the addition of more advertising hurt sig campaigns roi |
i've been turning down a lot of offers but i think i may book sept and oct
|
I've made good money from the sig market over the last year and a half (maybe a bit more ...) . I still do ... It's not really dead ... it's just that too many newbs tried to get in and started whoring the hell out of themselves.
|
The sig market slowed down, because a lot og people were jumping into the threads saying Hi, and expecthing to get paid.
You need to post, say something have others read it, and see the sig. Not shoot right by because they know you are just trying to make a buck. |

simple - market died because I have NO sig as for now....

why should the market be dead? I click more on sigs than on any banner here on top or bottom!
|
if a member reads the post carefully or is interested in reading them, sigs get their attention, if a member just post bs and don't read it the sig brings nothing
