Interestingly, there are about 150 Cops killed every year, and over 40,000 injured.... and the average cop has a life expectancy 20 years less than your average citizen. I would love to see some of these kids on this board sacrifice anything to help keep order in their communities. :2 cents:

Well what are you gonna do... That's what you get when you get some loser off the street with no education, pay them 30k a year and hand them a gun. All cops are losers.

I'm not sure about that, but it is indeed a job they choose. They do it because they think it's exciting and with it comes prestige and a symbol of power. It usually has little to do with a sole desire to keep order in communities, no more than most doctors become doctors because of the title and to make lots of money. Most firemen like fire so they become firemen. (their is a higher percentage of arsonists who are firemen than in the general population).

They shouldn't be hated or necessarily praised for simply doing their job.

I'm not sure what area of the country you live in, but you may want to try to get into a police academy as a "loser off the street with no education".

I havent had many interactions with the miami Police, but from the ones I have seen, they are either Fat, Smoking on the Job, Black Ladies with 4" Finger nails chatting on their cellphones. 94% spanish and 6% english. Lazy.

But this is good, cause they rarely want to pull people over cause it means paperwork.

Most cops are good guys.

But the bad apples are very bad. There is nothing worse than someone who abuses his authority.

The main problem I have is that there is there is little institutional recourse for average citizens who are hurt by corrupt cops. Sure, you can hire a private lawyer if you have a $10,000 retainer. But that's not possible for many people.
