Hell I don't see how the Russian Skaters can actually be proud of their tarnished gold.

They can dream all they want to and pretend that they won it fair and square...but only in a demented mind could you stumble not once but twice in your program and win and think it's justified.

Actually what is happening is that their is going to be a Double Gold Medal, they both are getting the gold. This is from the news as of 5 mins ago.

Im my opinion the Olympics are now ruined, theres no way anyone can trust the judging anymore..this was truly a sad thing to have happened, and to be letting the same judges continue is a tragedy....:(

Apparently, the French judge in question has been dismissed and suspended. I'm sure that as more of the facts come to light there will be other measures taken. I don't share the view that the Olympics are now tarnished beyond repair, shit happens and it seems to be getting dealt with.

I did sort of secretly envision the Russian couple taking off their gold medals right there on the podium and exchanging them with the Canadians though. Now THAT would have made some serious history and it would have shown that the Russian skaters themselves had a sense of honor and fairness. But that's just a dreamer at work here, the fact is that the skaters have always just been at these events to skate, period, leaving all the judging crap to the powers that be.

But I'm also thinking that if this sort of shit ever happens again, the skaters should simply refuse to compete at all, until the committees and federations and unions get their collective shit together once and for all. As it stands now they (the IOC and ISU) seem like a bunch of suits and stuffed useless shirts all milling around trying to figure out how to put out the fire that has blown up in their faces. Fixing the immediate problem is one thing, but what about a long-term solution? Time will tell.

#1. Bullshit the Russian team isn't involved. They knew.

#2. Only the French judge was suspended, the Russian ones should have been too.

#3. There should be CRIMINAL Proceding against the French judge. And also MASSIVE Civil proceedings. Judges should know not only their job and name is on the line, but their entire way of life , their savings and all material possions and as far as I'm concerned their LIVES too. Athletes devote their ENTIRE LIVES to the persuit of these medals, and include MANY people in support teams for every athlete too. Judges should have similar risks at stake considering the investment of the athletes. Just a simple suspension seems FAR too little.

#4. Elvis was ROBBED and should have been #4 or #5 but was punished for the canadian questioning of the judgeing.

I can't wait to see the "south park" version of this.
