Sony HDV help?
Decided to mess around with HDV a bit, using Premiere Pro 1.5.1 (Upgraded with HDV support), but it required me to install CineForm Aspect HD and it's telling me there's no capture devices connected.
Anyone have any recommendations on software I should check out that might see my camera? It's a Sony HVR-Z1U. Thanks. |
I use ConnectHD (with Vegas Video 6) and it finds it right away.
but i also do capture with ConnectHD outside of VV (meaning that i actually puchased a full blown version of ConnectHD, and am not using that light version that comes with Vegas). because I like the fact that it can capture and convert to the intermediate cineform codec on the fly. Not sure if you're using AspectHD within Premiere. if you do you should maybe download a free 15 day trial of AspectHD as a standalone and see if that makes a difference as far as captures. again on my side, I just load up ConnectHD/Dlink and it recognizes my Z1U right away. |

I knew of SP2 issues before. Do you have Service Pack 2 installed?

Lumiere is another HD converter .. But I thing it's only for apple based ... MMmm THis goes back to my JVC thread and about being prepared for HD properly ... Really the best capture for HD is a Hardware one ( Eg: http://www.pluginz.com/news/1740 ).. But if you have to do software watch it carefully, some software based HD compressors cut handle large timelines ... I know Lumiere gave me lots of problems with long format renders, after 40 min I lots my video but kept my audio ... Not fun when your Capturing 8 hours of HD Fucking
Good luck with this. Another way I Introduced the HD signal to a PC (actually it was a dual G5) is thru an AD and patch bay... Now this works but in essence your recording a High Rez 16:9 image and not true HD So there are defenite draw backs .. There are software solutions for Adobe Premier Renders of HD .., The list is short from what I've heard; BlackMagic Design, BlueFish 444, Canopus and Matrox are working on solutions The Only Premier Pro 1.5 solutions i've read about are; 1-Beyond HD-ProTM. 1-Beyond's editor uses the Bluefish 444 card ... and CineForm's editing software, Aspect HD, that runs underneath an ordinary copy of Adobe Premiere 6.5. Pro Upgrad to come out some time this year ... hope this helps Jact .. once more good luck with this, it could get fustrating |
i use the z1 and my editors run with premiere just fine
