So, how quickly would food posioning hit you?

Seriously, ate my evening meal...spent next two hours puking and now I feel like I have next to no energy and nursing cramps from hell.

Harmon 08-29-2005 03:10 PM

Have you been on the toilet? Diarreah? That's usually a REALLYgood sign you have it... it hits you pretty fucking quick. I hope you do not have it. Just out of curiousity, what did you eat?

justsexxx 08-29-2005 03:11 PM

I once ate "wrong' chicken. After I ate it, I became sick really quick. Like within 1 hour. I felt like shit(while I felt great be4) and had to puke etc...After 12 hours(and drinkinga lot of water) it was over...

Thomas1007 08-29-2005 03:13 PM

had it a few years ago
was BBQ'in and didnt wait until the last few burgers were fully done.
Hit me really fast, within a cpl hours I was power vomiting.
spent 3 days in the hospital for that mistake.
:error :helpme :1orglaugh

Um, lets just say it hasn't been nice. I made myself a chicken korma. It was freshly bought chicken and I cooked it all the way through and I wash my hands, etc when cooking raw meat but I am guessing if it is anything it is the chicken.

eamedia 08-29-2005 03:14 PM

if you have what i had last week then please kill yourself... you can thank me later

sonofsam 08-29-2005 03:14 PM

god sarah, this thread is turning me on so much.... now i remember why i married you again

DeanCapture 08-29-2005 03:14 PM

I've had it a few times...usually start sweating and feeling sick within a few hours of eating. Sometimes I'll get diarreah or throwup or both. Usually takes a day or two for me to get over it and then it's all good.

Hope you feel better soon :Oh crap

IwantU Bryan 08-29-2005 03:18 PM

I had food posioning a couple of months back, had some bad seafood, it only took me like 30 minutes and I was puking my ass of for about 2 hours :Oh crap , then took a nap and was good as new :thumbsup

yeah..forgot to mention the cold sweats. I went to the gym before I cooked (supermarket trip first to buy said food) and I thought it was just my hot sweat turning cold but I have been clammy for hours now.

Yeah..it is 11:30pm here..I usually work until about 2am but I am calling it quits at midnight and going and laying in a dark room.

KRL 08-29-2005 03:29 PM

I saw an NBC undercover report that indicated 1 out of every 3 chicken packages they tested at supermarkets had salmonella or some kind of potentially food poisioning bacteria.

When you think about how gross eating dead animal meat really is, its amazing more people don't get sick. I'm pretty much all vegetarian now, with some seafood occasionally for protein.

Normally it can be 1 hour to the following day depending on the contaminent.

sextoyking 08-29-2005 03:31 PM

I hope you feel better soon Sarah :)

Sarah has described the symptoms of salmonella and a bunch of other stuff too... Salmonella or food poisoning typically includes a fever. When I had it, it lasted a few days. I was married to the bathroom for awhile. Slept next to the toilet for two full days.

I'm not a doctor.

Hope you feel better.

Depends on the person, Health in general, body weight etc.

After Shock Media 08-29-2005 05:27 PM

May have been the food, then again may have been something you picked up at the viral and bacterial breeding ground known as the gym.

blazin 08-29-2005 05:42 PM

It can kill... be careful, if in doubt go to the hospital and get your stomach pumped.

Stomach pumping is rarely usefull and almost never used if more than 30 minutes have passed already. The shit is already either absorbed or past your stomach by then.

gecko 08-29-2005 05:53 PM

don't think I ever had food poisoning

Not a doctor as I said before, but think it is too late for that.

You can always call a doctor. Sitting in an ER waiting room was out of the question..

reed_4 08-29-2005 06:25 PM

You can never tell when or how fast the food poison will hit you. My mom said that when you encounter such, just take a spoonfull of sugar as first aid. I do hope you'll feel better soon sarah.

Barefootsies 08-29-2005 06:53 PM

I've had it a few times. It varies in time frame. Sometimes hits you w/i a hour, and sometimes next day. Depends on a lot of factors the dr's have told me. Also depends on severity of the food poisoning.

I was unlucky everytime, and had the double barrel going, if you know what I mean. Nothing like hoping back and forth from diaharrea, to throwing up at same time. Disgusting. Needless to say, never ate at those places again. :321GFY

What someone else said is true as well, about it being life threatening. Friend of mine's cousin was paralized by it. She is in a wheelchair. She had a very very severe case, and it fucked her up. Almost killing her.

When in doubt, go to the e.r. and make sure they take care of you. A lot of times it's mild, and you just have the cold sweats, double barrel fun, and all that. But if it's more severe, you can have a lot worse.

:Oh crap

detoxed 08-29-2005 07:06 PM

sucks.... i thought it took 12 hours though

thewebgarage 08-29-2005 07:07 PM

knought 08-29-2005 10:06 PM

Got it also before and it really hurts inside the stomach because you have to always puke... hope you get well!

tony286 08-29-2005 10:19 PM

sounds like you have food poisoning that really sucks hope you feel better

reynold 08-29-2005 10:59 PM

i think they answered your thread already sarah. Get well soon girl.

kaori 08-29-2005 11:47 PM

yeah, I got majorly sick (not food poisoning, thought it was) about a year ago...
did a ton of research..
basically, there's so many type and symptoms of food poisoning, that it's pretty hard to diagnose..
if it hit you that quick after eating, then it's likely that you got a bit of e. coli.. salmonella takes a bit longer to hit (6-72 hours), but also lasts for a week *up to a month occasionally...)

Sarah_Jayne 08-30-2005 04:14 AM

still weak feeling today but not puking anymore. Took me forever to actually sleep last night but when I did I slept much longer than I normally do. Going to take it easy and work from the laptop from the bed today and find the most bland food I can.
