I finally saw Supersize Me movie... YUCK!

Watching that guy eat McDonald's within the first few days, I started feeling sick. By the end of that movie... I have sworn off McD's forever.

That was disgusting, especially him throwing up out his car window and seeing all the sugar and fat samples at the end. :Oh crap

It was very educational... But I will never stop going to Carl's Jr! Star Burgers rock! :thumbsup

your fav fast food? post it here...

Scott McD 08-29-2005 10:24 AM

Won't put me off McD's... :pimp

gangbangjoe 08-29-2005 10:25 AM

almost every food is unhealthy when you specialize on it and you dont eat anything else

EroticySteve 08-29-2005 10:28 AM

Yeah that movie was about as much of a Documentary as any Michael Moore movie is. When you set out with an agenda it's not a documentary it's a movie like any other.

It's funny if he'd have just dumped the carbs he'd have been fine. It's not what you eat it's how much you eat and how you eat it that makes the difference.

Dollarmansteve 08-29-2005 10:29 AM

ya that movie reinforced a real valuable life lesson: dont eat at a fast restaurant 3 meals a day every day for a month.

I first read this life lesson the pages of DUH!!! magazine.

CyberBachelor 08-29-2005 10:37 AM

that movie made me hungry for a big mac :winkwink:

stev0 08-29-2005 10:38 AM

That movie is way too biased... you can't blame mcdonalds because people eat there and get fat. Blame the idiots that continue to eat there. I enjoy mcdonalds occasionally and im in great shape.

did you see the guy who ate like 800 big macs in a year?

and yes about 3 meals a day, but the judge said in the beginning of movie in the lawsuit that if it can be validated that eating McD's all the time, every meal, can endanger health, then he will consider the lawsuit.

So that is why I think ate it all the time. But the lawsuit was thrown out anyway.

So I never eat McDonald's either, but am a Carl's Jr. lover of the Original $6 Burger ... until I found out the fat content. 62 grams. When I'm drunk I tend to forget about the fat content ... but man oh man, they taste so yummy!

Raven 08-29-2005 11:30 AM

I swore off fast food a while ago...almost watched the movie..and then thought..I know this shit is shit...why do I have to see it?

Thanks for confirming that, Lori!!

LittleSassy 08-29-2005 11:36 AM

i always dine at burger king....

SleazyDream 08-29-2005 11:40 AM

saw that movie a while ago - turned me right off McDonalds. Won't even feed it to my dog anymore.

i love beach boy and VJs burgers - amazing fast food - small speciality beuger restruants here in manitoba.

can you blame mcdonalds for the 4-5-6 year olds that eat there because mcdonalds spends billions trying to target them?

SetTheWorldonFire 08-29-2005 11:53 AM

I saw it this weekend.

It's pretty sick

Pilforgod 08-29-2005 12:26 PM

Of course it's biased. A woman set out to disprove this movie and ate at mcdonalds for every meal, I think it was 90 days or something. But she ate the salads etc. and lost about 40 lbs doing it...eating only at Mcdonalds =)

Xplicit 08-29-2005 12:34 PM

Great movie!

woj 08-29-2005 12:46 PM

I haven't eaten there in a while, might as well pay an extra buck or 2 and get something that tastes good....

yep, they target the kids and the parents have to bring the kids to the place and they end up eating it too.

Good thing my 4 year got horribly sick on McDonald's last year and heaved for like 2 hours. Now she hates McD's and refuses to go! :thumbsup

Same thing with Burger King kids meal. She threw that one up too, all over her bed. What was a $3 meal ended up costing me $200 in new bedding, but she will never eat at McD or BK again so it was worth it! :thumbsup :thumbsup

sorry to hear she got sick but reality is only cool kids eat sushi :thumbsup

Mr. Mike 08-29-2005 03:20 PM

I saw the first 45 minutes and turned it off. Not because it was gross, just a shitty documentary.

The judge through the lawsuit out because the girls involved in it did nothing to prove their case as the judge had asked. That was the whole purpose of what was done was to see if they could have proven it if they would have gotten up and tried.

I think the more disturbing and yet up lifting portion of the movie was the part about how kids eat in school. Showing the shitty meals kids are given and the complete lack of guidence in many cases when they are at school. Yet, when problem children are put in a situation and fed foods that were healthy and not compacted with sugar they actually became better and well behaved. I think that makes for an interesting study that someone should do with more children.

Lets face it. We are taught poor eating habits right from the get go. My eating habits were HIDIOUS for years. It took me a long time to break them and start eating the right way. Lots of my own studying and inspection to find a better and healthier way to live. Not everyone is going to do that though. So they will just continue on the path they were taught by their parents or peers, and continue to eat crappy food. In many cases this will lead to many more problems then just being overweight.

Hollywood Horwitz 08-29-2005 03:36 PM

mc d's is gross, but in n out burger is gourmet!

62 grams of fat!!!! Ohhhh shit! I have been eating the low carb one ... but still!!!

Most healty fast food thing i have found is the Del Taco chicken del carbons meal. For the whole meal with fries and a coke ... 830 ... which is still SUPER, SUPER high for one meal! But the Tacos are only 170 calories.

xoxo,
Megan

kids... that was an issue that changed my opinion about "personal accountability" - mcdonalds (and not only mcdonalds) spends billions in marketing to children. their business is built on selling as much shitty and harmful food as possible to little kids. i dont believe that a 5 year old is making a choice he can be held responsible for. although i am quite conservative in my views, i dont believe that same child who was taught all his life that mainlining fat and sugar is an acceptable food choice and has health issues because of it should be 100% accountable. i believe there has to be some shared responsibility.

the other interesting point the movie made was the total amount of advertising that exists to market shitty food (particularly to children) and the simple fact that it is just not possible to counter that with any real campaign. how do you teach your kid that its all shit when he/she is bombarded all day everyday with messages that its ok, that its fun, etc etc etc.

i began to believe that these companies should be held accountable in some way. i began to ask myself "whats the difference in telling a 5 year old that it is ok to smoke 1 cigarrette a day and telling a 5 year old that its ok to eat a superdose of saturated fats and sugar for a meal"? its the same thing in my opinion.

how embarrassing is it to be the fattest nation on earth and watch a documentary showing kids eating candy bars, pizza and coca cola for lunch at a public school?

He didn't make that movie because of people like you, but because of the other people (obese, or not) in America who eat there almost every day.

Like he said in the movie : "Yeah I know what you are going to say, that it was obvious eating there 3 times a day wasn't going to be very good for my health, but it's not that extreme, a lot of people eat there every day".

He also got the idea for the documentary when he was lying on his couch at his family's house shortly after Thanksgiving dinner, watching TV when he saw the news about two teenage girls suing McDonald's for making them obese.

McDonalds said that it was not possible, so he did a 30 days test.

Damn, did we watch the same movie?!

BlueWire 08-29-2005 04:48 PM

It made me want a #2 meal :thumbsup

Raven 08-29-2005 05:01 PM

Predatory lenders. Predatory food providers. Predatory marketing.

So what.

Are we so unaware? So sheep like that we'll just eat these things, never move, never even think that maybe we're putting more calories in than are going out? It's pretty simple math.

I just got back from Europe. There are fast food places there....and damn...there were hardly any people who were fat....in Zurich, at least. They walk everywhere....and they choose to eat more healthy foods...

We choose not to...we are a nation of fast food gluttons. So, this guy made a movie to prove a point....I don't know that it takes a movie like this to prove the point....when 65% of all Americans.....are 30 lbs or more overweight.....just look around.....

gecko 08-29-2005 06:33 PM

Ate Mickey D's the next day.

jollyperv 08-29-2005 06:36 PM

That guy is a fucking pussy...I've been eating fast food every day for 28 years and I'm quite well. And I weigh 140 lbs.

MandyBlake 08-29-2005 07:34 PM

yeah it was a great movie.
i liked his show 30 days.

Fizzgig 08-29-2005 07:35 PM

Propoganda. Demagogue. Nuff said.

demented 08-29-2005 07:37 PM

Good movie. Made me say fuck McDonalds too, although I didn't really care for their greasy shit to begin with.. Right now, fav fast food? Hard to say.. I like home cooked meals better than shitty fast food.

Kanon 08-29-2005 08:11 PM

The only fast food tolerable is Chic-Fil-A. If you don't have one nearby you're missing out =0

Badass chicken 'grilled' or cooked in peanut oil, and fresh made lemonade (not that Minute Maid crap)

tony286 08-29-2005 08:36 PM

Where did people get this idea documentaries have to be balanced. Im reading text books on them now(want to do one), they are not by far but dont discredit everything in it to the rightwing buzz word agenda is silly.

you are absolutely correct! She loves her tuna cut rolls and edamame, as a special dinner out not all the time. heh.

And after seeing in the movie how kids eat in the school lunch program, I guarantee my kid will be going to school with a lunch I prepare and no money in her pocket to try and score those fries and processed foods in the lunch line.

That was just pathetic, and more pathetic are the marketers who target the school lunch programs and call it 'caring for kids' by saying it brings money to the schools.

Coke, Hershey bars, little debbie snack cakes, fries, canned and frozen foods... yea right. -and how is this caring for kids? :disgust

reynold 08-30-2005 02:20 AM

KFC
I like their chicken. :upsidedow

bringer 08-30-2005 02:29 AM

carls jr isnt much better then mcd. something he didnt mention about mcdonalds is how the food is kept. most of the burgers are made in the morning and kept warm in pools of grease as are the nuggets. same goes for the fish. they make the expected daily serving first thing in the morning before they change the oil and let it sit all day. mcdonalds is evil and anyone who eats there might as well be eating fried dog shit.

invertiga 08-30-2005 02:36 AM

bring back super size fries!
