Sometimes it hits me just how strange the internet is for humanity
 

i'm sitting here some 4,000 miles away seriously worrying about people I have never actually met and in most cases haven't even seen a pic of at all.

My sociology studies kick in and I start to think about just how much the internet has shrunk the world and think that for all its headaches that is a good thing because it potentially breeds greater compassion and understanding.

Then I think about the digital divid4 and wosh there was an easier and faster way to even out that divide in the developing world so that that same greater understanding and compassion could be shared with them. Afterall, it is a lot easy to feel empty emotionally towards strangers.

Hmm.. but I seem to think its ridiculous to be worrying about what is happening to people across the world. You have enough problems to worry about why waste your time on things that you can do absolutely nothing about?
