There are lots of opportunities like Brandon describes, if you care to seek them out. I bought a $5k domain three weeks ago that I am selling now for $30k to a very reputable domainer. I could have gotten more if I announced intentions of selling it, but it is in my best interest to just get the $30k so that I am able to buy many more domains of the same ROI potential right away.

only 'a few' good registered but unused domains are left and often it's impossible to get in touch with the owner

seeking such names is actually hard work and contacting the owner often even harder

especially since there're so diferent people who own them

sometimes ppl sit on $50k domains and don't go anything with them, but when you ask them if it's for sale, they ask $500k

sometimes people are afraid to sell domains, they don't even trust escrow

it's not that easy as it sounds...

You are right, but you don't have to go after the absolute cream of the top, nor fully unused domains, to get great domains at bottom prices.
