Is it just me...or does tonight just feel REALLY eary with the New Orleans situation?

....I mean, this seriously could be the end of a major city. They are talking about 20+ feet of flood water for 60-90 days...not to mention all chemicals thats are going to get leaked making it a toxic swimming pool.

No more New Orleans...you guys ready for this?

Check out the webcams around there. Ghost town...just nuts

RRRED 08-28-2005 11:47 PM

Yep I know what you mean. Like solemn silence.

Of course it will be back and thank God that there was some sort of notice... but still.... a devestating thing for so many other people. A bleak moment in history for sure.

BlueWire 08-28-2005 11:49 PM

What do u do when 400,000 people become homeless and the city wont be safe to be in cuz of chemicals for a number of months if not years?

I think this is EVEN MORE serious than people are giving credit and people are actually taking it pretty serious

Meta Ridley 08-28-2005 11:49 PM

Its not gonna be the end of the city. YEah they will get damage, but jesus the whole city is not gonna get wiped out. Stop watching Fox news.

We all hope not but you are dead wrong if you think it's not a possibility. New Orleans has dodged a few bullets in it's time but this one seems to be headed directly for it.

I hate the pricks over at fox. I'm on CNN/MSNBC :thumbsup

These chemicals thats are going to get spread will make it a really dicey situation. A lot has to happen for the worst case to happen. But a lot more has to happen for us to get lucky.....

After reading all the likely scenarios...I really think there a good chance that the area wont be safe for atleast a year

Waves out in the ocean are being reported at peaks of 65 Feet high.

Holy shit!

Yeah, I dont think I will sleep tonight. It reminds me of the day after 9/11 I was stunned. The good thing is that most of the people left.

Which was expected. They were surprised it stayed a 5 for so long. Its hitting land so it will naturally weaken. Thats still fucking powerful and this hurricaine's main power is in the extreme precipitation...more than just your avg hurricaine

Doesn't change much. It's only 1 mph away from being a cat 5. It went from 160 mph to 155. Not much difference.

i run a forum that consistst mostly of residents from NO/LA. you've got to really feel for the people in that situation. i don't think i could handle losing everything. i hope everyone gets through safely.

je_rome 08-29-2005 01:59 AM

I'm actually praying right now for the safety of those in New Orleans
