TheJimmy 08-28-2005 11:19 PM

I'd not be shocked to see it hit 5 bucks a gallon within the next few weeks...

makes you wonder what's up with this though and HOW MUCH of all this is purely psychological bullshit...

:/

PS: just filled up the tahoe today for about 73 bucks, I expect to see that at 100 a fillup sometime this year unless we snap the fuck out of this strange upwards spiral

Even though it's middle of the night here, I just topped of my car's tank a little while ago at $2.519/gallon ... if the hurricane takes out some refineries and/or there's a panic, price may be the least of problems - ie. gas station lines like back in the '70s ... many say it can't happen, but then again, many were saying not that long ago that a barrel of oil wouldn't go much over $50 and yet in the span of weeks it has rocketed to $70 with no end in sight...

Price alone is no biggie for many Americans, but if there's an interruption of supply due to refining problems, etc (or the perception of problems by public) there will be panic with a flashback to the 1970s gas station lines; an advantage of working from home, like many folks here on GFY, is I don't have to drive everyday - only have about a 10 foot commute to my office.

I'm really worried bout that Sept 19 meeting of OPEC. The evil forces afoot might try to wipe out the heads of OPEC replacing them with their new lackeys.

The platforms in the gulf are shut down, who knows how many will be lost in the storm. Of course the second biggest hurricane in record is going to screw not only with that area, but the mindset of the nation as well. The tiniest hint of a problem will cause a ripple that will in turn become a tsunami in the mind of the general populace.

Oil is going to $100.

Get used to it.

We'll see man, we'll see...

I'm hoping that this 'plentiful' situation and current oil pricing being based on shit that is NOT really aligned with the fundamentals of the industry gets wider exposure...because if this is in fact true, we're all suffering from another psychologically disordered market...

and KRL I agree, I totally agree that we may see 100 within 90-120 days if not sooner...

:/

:2 cents:

I believe that statement that goes something along the lines of that in every cloud there is a silver lining...it's there, just gotta look for it and work to get in the position to take advantage of it...
