does your video ever crash?

a few days ago, my video card kept crashing. Was running a nvidia geforce4 6800GT OC w/256megs onboard. Wasnt running any 3d apps, but video on both monitors would just die. So i'd reboot, and within a few minutes it would do it again. And again.

Went and bought another 6800GT card, popped it in, everything was fine till a few minutes ago, i was running a R/C helicopter simulation.. it is 3d but nothing compared to like halo or other games... fucking video died at the same time on both monitors again. So now I'm pretty sure the videocard isnt the problem.

Any idea what else could be doing this?

If it's not the drivers, I'd check and make sure the cpu's not overheating. Maybe install a 2nd fan.

I had this problem a few computers back. Thought it was the video card, but actually was the safety feature on cpu shutting down computer because it was overheating.

:pimp

Check your GPU core temp, be sure that the heatsink is installed correctly.

Yep an old fx 5500 oc i used to run (bought 2 same as you) was NOT my problem, but the cpu was smokin hot, brush the bitch off and also check your power supply fans, make sure that shits clean too.

I blew all of the dust out of the computer when i changed the video card

just updated video drivers and dirext x, its still crashing

guess i need one of those cpu monitors so i can see whats going on :(

I've had this machine for about 3 years and it stays on 24 hours a day... P4, 2.2Ghz 1 gig of ram, maybe its time for a new machine
