It's the fact that you're in a foreign country surrounded by a bunch of tiny gooks and one of the only things that gives you some kind of connection to "America" is the internet...

I felt the same way about watching CNN when I travel...I can be in a fucked up country but a beer, some air conditioning, and a comfortable chair watching CNN is one of the most pleasurable things to do while traveling.

that could be, but i dont think so... i think of this place as my home and i can't imagine living anywhere else... when i want to feel like im home i fire up the plasma and watch Star Series which shows American sitcoms and reality TV... but i do know what you mean about the feeling of hearing CNN on the TV, it does make me feel like im back home and its comforting... one problem here tho is that they show CNN Asia so its dudes with British/Hong Kong accents not Americans...
