Because of that fucking hurricane we're looking at $4 a gallon

If you think almost $3 is bad right now, wait until that fucking hurricane messes up a lot of oil rigs in the gulf :(

Linkster 08-28-2005 04:58 AM

Id be more worried about the tens of thousands of people the storm is getting ready to mess up :(
until we get to the levels that Europe pays for gas Im not worried one bit - theyre still paying around $4.50 - 6.50 overseas

Yep! $5.97/gallon is not cool.

Sexzity 08-28-2005 09:26 AM

Maby you should get a new car, running longer on a gallon :)

Else you can save gas this way:
1. Turn off your AC
2. Dont let the engine run, then waiting.
3. Use the slowlane and drive slowly :)
4. dont drive with the windows open.

Bullshit.

As Americans we're entitled to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and cheap gas.

It's as simple as that.

Now, we just gotta get smart enough collectively to throw the bums who can't deliver on all of the above out of Washington.

The reason they pay $4.50 to $6.50 has fuckall to do with anything.

Cheap gas is a thing of the past man, oil production peaked and now its tapering off. 10 years from now I'm betting Europeans will be getting 10 bucks a galon, and us here will be getting 6 or 7 :2 cents:

sumphatpimp 08-28-2005 10:35 AM

4 bucks a gallon is nothing.
its headed for 6 bucks a gallon.
I don't like it eighter but that is the way it is.
it will finally level off when it hurts the economy really bad.
when we go into a real serious recession then it will stop because their is nothing more to extract from your wallet.
welcome to being the little guy.

Anyone see that movie on FX a few months ago "Oil Storm"? It a documentary style set in the future (with realistic news footage) about major storm that hit in September 2005 that caused international gas struggles and the prices leveled out at a bit over $4. They only missed by a coulpe days since this will be hitting in the last couple days of August. Creepy. I may have to watch that again tonight...

smack 08-28-2005 11:09 AM

i'm just going to ask a question here real quick.

how come in the past oil prices have no rised with bad hurricane seasons? this a recent thing the bush admin has been doing. i can't seem to recall clinton or bush sr raising prices when there was a hurricane season?

sorrect me if i am wrong, but this seems like a bullshit line to me.

MandyBlake 08-28-2005 11:11 AM

that would be insane! the next car we buy will be a hybrid.
anyone have one? if so, which model do you have and how many mpg do you get?

Peaches 08-28-2005 11:12 AM

Turn off your AC and close the windows??!! Hell, here in GA I'd be killing people as I passed out and lost control of the car :(

I've read that using the AC cost less in gas than leaving your windows open. Which is good because I have absolutely zero intention of not using my AC.

Then again, I drive an SUV have been known to drive with my AC AND the sunroof and windows open ;)

Precisely and that's why we need real leadership with a game plan that involves something a tad more inspired than simply expecting us to all bend over.

It was not without good reason that Jimmy Carter was seen as a bad joke by most of his contempories.

That is true on the freeway, but not in the city when speeds are lower.

It's not that we don't have real leadership with a game plan (although that's true), there is no incentive for such leadership to do anything when the family business is oil. :Oh crap

pussyluver 08-28-2005 12:48 PM

$3+/gal by the end of the year. Buy a Moped and move closer to work. Shit work out of your house. Many here do.

DirkG 08-28-2005 01:09 PM

Gas prices continue to go higher and higher. It has nothing to do with production, or war, or natural disasters. Oil companies in the US have anounced they had their most profitable year ever. In fact each year for the last 3 years their profit levels have been record high being beaten only by the next years profit. So oil companies in the US are making more and more money as the price of gas goes up. Cut their profits back to what they made 5 years ago, and gas prices would be what they were 5 years ago.

this mentality really fucking irks me...who gives a shit what Europe pays for a liter of gas. they've been paying five bucks a gallon since 1980. lol...nothing against you bro, but shit, oil is the biggest fraud perpetrated against mankind.

CC 08-28-2005 01:15 PM

I hate oil companies. Hydrogen is the way of the future, but gee, I wonder who is preventing that from becoming a reality?

Peaches 08-28-2005 01:25 PM

Gas prices have actually gone down where I live. From $1.64 to $1.51 for regular in the last week.

Per gallon? It's hit $1.00+ per LITRE here within the past month.

floppy 08-28-2005 01:45 PM

Go to germany. There is a liter (approx 1/4 gallon) 1.32 Euro ($1.65) so a gallon would be approx $6.60 ......

MrJackMeHoff 08-28-2005 02:17 PM

CLUE:
Gas isnt rising in cost because of any reason but profit.. Have you looked at the latest earnings for Exxon etc?

pornguy 08-28-2005 02:22 PM

the price of gas will never drop below 2 bucks again. and that is a fact of life. I think that soon you will see major price drops in the big trucks though, as they will not be selling as well.

3M TA3 08-28-2005 02:38 PM

from my understanding we don't get much oil off the gulf coast. I believe it's a small %

As far as the administration and gas prices. I don't believe the gas prices are directly related to the administration. I believe that 90% of the economic welfare of the country is determined years before.

Think of all the red tape it takes to change a law or adopt a new policy. In the good old days we would have just writen it into the deficit. I'm kinda glad we are now taking responsibility for our price of living in the US.

The rick get richer because they know how to do it. Alot of the people think this because they spend so much time pissing and moaning about how they aren't rich, and if they used that energy to make money and diversify themselves they might find their situation improving.

I'm going to be 30 soon and I have never been married and I don't have any kids. I chose this because I knew I'd rather be wealthy than be a family guy making middle class income. I wasn't born into wealth and I didn't have anyone to tell me how to make money (father was middle class), so i had to risk it myself. If I ever enter into wedlock, i'll still be married to my job and I'll have an afair with my wife.

Sorry for the rant.

Mike Dutch 08-28-2005 02:42 PM

it's around $7 here already.......... $4 would make me happy

The LOOP (Louisiana Offshore Oil Port) is the largest crude oil import terminal in the US. It processes over 1MIL barrels/day and accounts for 11% of all US imports.

Over 30% of all US oil processing and drilling has been stopped, imagine what it will do to the oil market tomorrow.

This does not take anything away from the tragedy about to unfold in the gulf tomorrow, this was just a thread about oil production disruption.

I am affraid, we are about to witness the most destructive and deadly event in US history since 9/11.

TheJimmy 08-28-2005 04:06 PM

Wasn't Bush the self-proclaiming to be the energy guru? And that past administrations fucked it all, that he had a plan and would fix it?

Hmm, so he has controlled the White House for how many years? Enjoyed a Republican majority for how long?

So.....what's the hold up?

I guess maintaining good energy pricing and policy at home sometimes requires significant negotiation and diplomatic skills abroad........................that's telling :/

.

Nightnday 08-28-2005 04:12 PM

Is it the hurricane or the US WAR in irag who set the prices??
We have to pay 10,19,- kr per liter gasoline, that's over $5.57/gallon, and you cry out load!
Man, your small!

Yep, you're right, just looked it up, LOOP accounts for roughly 12%.
