making money using forums?

hi everyone.
I've been reading gfy for some time and couldn't find an answer to this:
is it possible to make some $$$ by using sponsor links in forums? I've set up
http://13026.rapidforum.com/
just a view days ago and was wondering, if there is any point in this...
Thanks

There is no money in porn, SEO, or forums. Thanks for stopping by!

If you need a cheap solution in POPULATING your surfer forum as well as traffic, let me know. I can hook you up on both counts.

Must be nonnude/mainstream though.

kmanrox 08-27-2005 01:26 AM

you guys grow up... at least he's honest... and when i started in 1996 i was hoping to make just enough to afford the ISP connection as I couldnt afford it but was taking the risk.... $200 isnt bad for an initial goal... baby steps, kids... baby steps

Ok well i will be the first to start off with some helpfull tips..

Can money be made with that ? sure.. Can you do better ? yup..

First off theres a spot for banners ( see the big blank white space )

Theres no point in having banners all over the top of the forum.

Secondly , a surfer forum is a good idea. Making it have a domain name you couldn't possibly remember is going to be a big problem..

Third , your going to need to populate that forum a bit first before you actually send traffic to it. ( see $5 submissions post above )

I'd like to add that text links do better then banners.

http://www.adbrite.com should do well once you get it rolling with traffic and posts :)

I would suggest Google adsense instead :thumbsup

martinsc 08-27-2005 02:17 AM

1. thanks for the tips.
2. Google ads are in each post (that's after all what surfers look at)
3. I am still trying to figure out how to use the big white space (this is a free hosted forum and not my php code) have to dig into the code a bit.
4. the domain name will come later (i'll just redirect)
Thanks again, more opinions are welcome.

Hey, You get the HELL out of here buddy boy. There's no such thing as the online adult industry. Even if there was, it'd be impossible to make money in. You should give up now & persue your dreams as a wendy's cashier.

Try to avoid those... In mainstream stick with PPC and in adult, with per sales or partnership ones (50/50) :thumbsup

why? what's so bad about them?

Great thread :thumbsup

Webmasterlabor.com provides the following services for mainstream forums:

1) mainstream traffic generation services

2) board population using posters with differing online personalities -- don't let your site suffer the "Empty Restaurant syndrorme"--if there's little activity, REAL surfers would find little reason to register and post

3) linkback and link partnership solicitation services -- we are very experienced in getting other sites to swap links with your site

4) content dissemination services

All at a VERY AFFORDABLE offshore-based price! Give us a try today!

Why not both. Also, you can use clicked trigger words for extra cash (lesson learned from blogs).

X37375787 08-27-2005 02:53 PM

$4,921.76 in adsense monies off one of my forums thus far this month, I love them forums! :thumbsup

There are... but 1) you have to have a LOT of traffic 2) most are mainstream (although I think Ive seen a sig on GFY re pay per impression) 3) reporting accurate views may be problematic
