Camera Recommendations - Nikon, Canon, Olympus?
I'm going to be purchasing a new camera, I was just curious to as what you all here on good ol GFY would recommend.
OLYMPUS EVOLT E-300 with 14-45 mm and 40-150 mm lens - $614 NIKON D70? Canon Digital Rebel XT? Canon EOS 20D? :helpme |
depends on what you want to do with it. we love the 20D, but for holiday snap shots it would be a bit oversized :2 cents:

For a DSLR, you can't beat the Canons, seriously. If you just want to make money, it really doesn't matter DSLR or Point & Shoot. I've found that surfers love that amateur look you get from a point & shoot digital -- assuming your shooting girls that look like they belong on Myspace or something. People eat that shit up.

20D is great
|
I got the 20D.
What are you looking to spend? I am going to be selling my Rebel. |
it all depends on what your using it for if its for work you cant beat the 20d for family shit , I would look at the panasonics with the leica lens.
|
Yes it would be for work, I was hoping I could get away with spending $800 for brand new.
WEG Cory, how much are you lookin for, for that rebel? |

you should consider that the rebel is a consumer cam - the mechanics is made for 30.000 pics. the 20D is a (at least) semi pro cam and it is made for about 200.000 pics. so the price is quite relative if you are going to work with it :2 cents: |

nice pics man :thumbsup

Go with the 20D all the way . If you want a cheap cam, and don't need that many megapixels, go with the sony DSC-F707. Only 5 megapixel but it shoots great picture quality ... should cost you 300ish bucks on ebay ... everything included.
|
canon would be my choice...
|
I love my canon rebel xt personally.
|
depends on the use, dalton is dead on, i took my 20d on vacation last time and it was a pain in the ass, try to carry it with a snowboard on one hand, snow boots, globes, your kids bugging you, and other assorted shit on you and then try to snap a quick pic, i wished i had a cheap casio exilim or something hanging from my neck instead :2 cents:

I will get back to you on a price. You have email? Honestly, if you are just starting out, the Rebel is fine. The 20D is one of those things that you don't get unless you understand how to shoot Manual. |
canon :thumbsup
|
the 20d is incredible!!!
|
canon makes superb camera products, go for 20D
:smokin |

[email protected] Also, thank you everyone for your input :thumbsup |
The answer is you need more than one camera. One for personal use and one for work.
|
I like my Digital Rebel because I own Canon lenses and because it is a lightweight body. The 20D is an awesome camera, but it is way heavier and bulkier to use, especially if you switch off between video and stills as I often do. If you want an entry level DSLR try the Digital rebel XT, or if a faster, sturdier body is more important to you then go with the 20D.
