what's with the lack of HD channels?

i think I've had ONE new HD channel (TNT) added to the whopping lineup of 14 or so in the past 6 months.. wtf?

Shit there still no ABC HD channel here yet... so even Monday Night Football is out..

isn't this shit supposed to be standard by now?

CrazyRogerV 08-26-2005 08:11 AM

Sucks to be you

What's supposed to be standard is digital, not HD. The same bandwidth for an HD channel will accomodate numerous standard channels and other services, so many bandwidth owners have chosen to go that route. The primary thing the legislation is attempting to do is kill analog, not provide HD...

I've had HDTV and have been bitching about the same thing for months.

no kidding. I have the HD package with DirecTV and hardly get any HD channels at all. They need to launch their new sat for more HD channels. I'm tired of fucking waiting

EroticySteve 08-26-2005 08:56 AM

What % of Average Americans have an HDTV?

My parents just got touchtone phones I don't see many in their generation stepping up to HD?

How many people on GFY have an HDTV?

I have an old school regular TV.

Naughty Pyne 08-26-2005 09:06 AM

Direct TV launched a new Sat late last year and were supposed to be offering over 100 HD channels by june. WTF? I'll believe that when my shit turnes purple and smells like rainbow shurbert!

cosis 08-26-2005 09:07 AM

yup who wants to watch Maury Povich in HD

evildick 08-26-2005 09:47 AM

Bell Expressvu has 27 HDTV channels in Canada. Not sure if they are all true HDTV or if some are upconverted though. You have to pay an extra $10 a month for them though so I haven't bothered yet.

So I paid $299 for my HDTV receiver just so I could watch one HD channel. What a waste.

I used to have Voom here in the U.S. however they went out of business May 1st. That's the bad news... the good news is I picked up Dish Network who bought the fucked up bankrupt Voom for 200million and will be adding more hi-def to their lineup so they say.

I have HD through my local cable company and it blows

Half the shit they program isn't in HD so you have those bars on the side.

Waste of money IMO.

It's too early.. probably be good in 2 years or so.

XxXotic 08-26-2005 09:58 AM
