Is anyone technically-minded?

I have to transfer a domain to someone who's hosting a new website for us as part of a joint venture, but all he's given me is an IP address. Normally I change the nameservers - I've never done it with just an IP address.

The domain is registered through godaddy.com.

Do I need to set up nameservers somewhere and put his IP address within that? Can anyone explain how it works? :helpme

If I put the IP address into my browser, it just comes back with:

No web site is configured at this address.

go to the domain registration control panel and replace the ip with what he gave you.

Enter your domain and IP to see if they've set up a DNS record for your domain.

Login > MyDomains > Click On The Domain > Expand Total DNS > Total DNS and MX Records > Launch Total DNS Control Panel > Edit the @ to the IP you want to point to.

Make sure you're using godaddy's nameservers also.
