Do you ever wish you took more pictures throughout your life?

especially working at home i find myself constantly pondering about the good times in the past, i was one to barely EVER take pictures, it is truly crazy when i go over to some of my old buddies houses' who have pictures from the past to see how much i have and the people have changed. (good and bad)

it is for sure one of my main regrets is that i never did take enough snapshots. i always tell myself i am going to start but never actually get around to it.

it is def. a trip to look back and actually see and remember things that you were doing years ago.

anyone have one of those parents that cpatured every little moment? my parents werent like that, but it would be kinda cool to look back.

dynastoned 08-25-2005 01:25 PM

yeah i thought about that before as i have like 0 pictures of myself from the last 8-10 years. but, shit what the hell if i can't remember something then i guess it wasn't worth remembering or looking back on.

triumph 08-25-2005 01:26 PM

I was thinking about this a few weeks back, and I do wish I had taken more pics throughout my life.

These days I take alot of pics and video of my kids! I guess its never too late to start.

Good thread btw.

DutchTeenCash 08-25-2005 01:27 PM

StuartD 08-25-2005 01:27 PM

I take a ton of pics... mostly I've always just taken pics of this and that. But now that I have a baby boy, I take TONS of pictures of him.

isnt that kinda sad though? i like pictures especially when i am down, i think alot of people focus on alot of negative times in their lives, seeing old pictures help me remember the good times, and how possitive and fun my life has been. helps me be greatful kinda deal.

i do.. most of all of my brother .. may he rest in peace :(

Shortbread 08-25-2005 01:40 PM

I love taking pictures. For Christmas last year I got a really sweet digital camera that fits in my purse. If you want to start taking pics, that's a good place to start with a small camera, then you can take it most places with you in your pocket. :thumbsup

Drake 08-25-2005 01:41 PM

I know what you mean. Sometimes I'll be at a friend's house and see a picture on the fridge or some other place in their house that was taken years ago and it's shocking and bittersweet to see how we've all changed.

I'm exactly like that, that was the reason i got a digital photograph machine but never ended up doing it...its a shame because I love to look at photos and see how things were back in the days...

My father passed on 6 years ago, I have hardly ANY pictures of him because he hated having his pic taken. The ones I have I treasure greatly because they help me when I'm feeling blue or missing him a lot. Also, as time passes images fade (in my mind anyways) and it's good to be able to look and remember more precisely the shape of my father's nose and the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed or smiled. Yes I have the memories, but the pictures give me something that makes it more powerful.

I don't have enough pictures from the last few years of my life, and LOTS has changed I wish I had more. Metaman, I agree, procrastination is easy on things like this :winkwink: but with digital cameras being SOOOO easy to use for simple taking and storing of pictures it makes it a much less complicated prospect to get equipped with a functional camera. (I recently got one but my St Bernard chewed it up LOL :helpme )

Like Shortbread says, they're so compact and easy to use nowadays, and the best part is you don't have to think about taking the film into the camerashop, getting it developed and then having to go pick up the pictures. Just plug in, upload and there you have it! :2 cents:

This is a great thread Metaman :thumbsup

thats one thing i have been lucky enough to do. i dont have tons of stuff from my childhood, but when i got out of my little town i grew up in, i started taking pics and never looked back. i have at least 10k pics from the last 15 years of my life.

Dalai lama 08-25-2005 03:17 PM

Most is in my mind. I do have some good backup cds of my holiday pictures & am still making them on each holiday :)

Herb Kornfield 08-25-2005 03:21 PM

my crew tells me that I am a japanese tourist. I'm always taking pics of hanging out, everyday stuff and alot of my house and its grounds as of late.

For Xmas most of my crew gets a pic in a really nice frame from adventures over the past year. They have really grown to love getting them each year since its our crew and how we all changed since getting together 7 years ago....

je_rome 08-25-2005 05:35 PM

pictures brings a smile to me for a few minutes, then after missing the good old days, I start feeling depressed.

BigCashCrew Dude 08-25-2005 05:37 PM

hell yeah, i just started taking more pics lately...wish I had done it earlier

tristan_D 08-25-2005 05:49 PM

it would have been more fun if we already had digital cams and cellphones with camera back then.

jimmyf 08-25-2005 06:37 PM

Yes, I wish I would have taken more....

What I really miss is the one's I took when I was in the Army, in Europe... One of ex-wives got them... Of course she said she didn't take them.. But no one else could have taken them. she's a real bitch... was 20 plus years ago and still is..

Found out about a month ago she is looking for me, told my friend, Tell the bitch I'm 6 feet under..

reynold 08-25-2005 06:41 PM

Of course; it's so sad to think that some precious memories I had before like when i had my first Lego toy during my 12th birthday haven't gotten any pictures. And also the time when my dad was teaching me how to swim on the pool.

myjah 08-25-2005 06:44 PM

Yeah, there a some gaps where I can't find any pictures of myself at all. But I love pictures now and always keep the camera around.

reed_4 08-25-2005 07:11 PM

i'm glad my mom took care of my old pictures and now i am scanning them and making a file in my harddisk.

Fletch XXX 08-25-2005 07:41 PM

moment of clarity is worth a thousand pictures.

MetaMan 08-25-2005 09:41 PM

its also kinda cool not having pics, because i am basically had the same group of core friends since i was younger, my main friends over the years i have still kept in touch with, seeing there pics of me is always a blast, and just went to show i always could drink anyone under the table and still can.

good times can be captured in 1 still, i love pics because they bring back memories i thought i had forgotton, time flies, pictures are ageless.

im jealous to all of you who have kept up, i need a swift kick in the ass and get going before i regret it even more, i aint getting any younger thats for sure!

Borrow the negatives from your friends and family if they've still got them; get some reprints made.

Za Ha 08-25-2005 10:01 PM

Yes, when I have kids ill hire them a full time camera guy so they dont have the same problem.

Rochard 08-25-2005 10:02 PM

I took a ton of pictures when I was a kid. I came "home" to my parents house to visit and they were all gone........

getting digital camera was the best investement I ever made... looking back at the pics from few years ago is great, I can't even imagine how cool it will be to look back on things 10 years in the past....

knought 08-27-2005 01:27 AM

Yes! Because as time is passing by you will notice how different you've become. may it be good or bad, you will just find yourself laughing on that....

loverboy 08-27-2005 11:05 AM

after investing on a good canon digital cam 2 yrs ago, i can't still help myself
of taking pictures on a regular basis. i want to compile them and let my kids
see how their dad is soo good looking as them. I only wish i had the money
decades ago

:smokin
