More Webmasters Get the FEDS Up Their Asses..

How dumb can you be?
Repatriating money from offshore accounts while living in this country is ILLEGAL

Sending Non Can Spam Compliant emails- is Illegal.

Somehow most people in this business seem to think they are too smart for the government or anyone else-

Greed may have been good for Gordon Gecko- but it's killing spammers one by one.

Mr Pheer 08-25-2005 11:33 AM

It's unfortunate that this has happened, but easy with the name calling and shit. Most people would have jumped to get at those people! And not a single one of you is innocent by any means and most have done shaddy shit!

OH and whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"...yeah...land of the free...whatever!

I agree, fickle bunch indeed.

Start a thread and say...........

I can send 100 joins a day, need reliable sponsor who accepts mail traffic.

leave your icq and watch the damn thing blow up. And they wont give a FUCK if it's not compliant.

How many times has that thread title been posted and NEVER is the question where is the traffic coming from been asked???

It's a joke!

I don't like spam, hell I'm against opt in mail because it's so very rarley opt in, or the surfer who opted in will complain because he wanted free access to CEMags not mail in his inbox . But some will never learn...............

He is right, It could all just be an elaborate misunderstanding. Because NOBODY is dumb enough to spam AOL. I wonder if the feds went to the sponsors with ref codes to find the " alleged" spammers??

BINGO what most people don't understand is that the Govt can turn your life upside down and cost you millions of dollars in legal fees only to find you are innocent- and never even say I am sorry or reimburse your expenses for legal bills

Don't believe me ask Mike Jones in Illinois how his deal went down with the FEDS that raided him.

khs 08-25-2005 12:17 PM

Not that it matters to some of you, but this is a comment that was posted on the blog from a 'Matt' - "funny. i called the DoJ about this. They say NO indictments are immenent." Not sure if you can just call up the DoJ to find things like this out...but if it's true then...

This is a broad statement, that is technically incorrect. Describe the scenarios you are referring to.

When you are the target of a Federal Investigation, and then indicted, if you are victorious in the court proceedings you are reimbursed legal fees and expenses. Federal Level on criminal prosecutions is 100% loser pays, the way it should be. It is capped at $7mil and determined by the judge, but you usually come out ahead.

It is part of the Hyde Amendment, check it out.

Player, you should know this.

As an aside, I would rather go up against the Federal Government than any Local or State government. There are rules on the Federal Level, States take it to street level antics.

jonesy 08-25-2005 01:40 PM

the last line says it all and thats what the feds were really going after -

" The indictments also are expected to charge the defendants with money laundering."

Brujah 08-25-2005 01:42 PM

poor Jenn :/

read between the lines - think about the costs to retain a lawyer on the level thats being spoken about here. any lawyer on that level sure as fuck isnt going to represent you if you dont have the money unless the lawyer knows they can find you not guilty and even then, most say fuck you if you dont have the cash - the average person doesnt have that kind of money and is left with most times a subpar attorney and they lose your case. dont see too many people with serious money going to jail.

you get what you pay for.

add to that the stress thats invloved with just dealing with the situation and its effect on family friends work ect sure as fuck turns your world upside down.

We're not really talking about "the average person" here. These people have made millions over the years. I worked for a guy who ran about 2 scams a year. Every time they fined him he just laughed - he'd make $1mil and they'd fine him $100K. Cost of doing buisness, in his opinion. High legal fees were included in his business plans.

Granted, he ended up serving 4.5 years in Club Fed, but he also banked around $54mil for that one scam alone (money which the feds haven't been about to touch, even though they've tried :winkwink: ).

VeriSexy 08-25-2005 02:07 PM

hydro 08-25-2005 02:13 PM

They aren't going to jail or anything. All the goverment wants is money. I settled for $50k last year when ms came after me and i was mailing 50 mil hotmail/msn addys a day with porn and penis pills

The guy I was talking about before covered all legal defenses for employees who got caught up in something due to his actions. However, rarely was it a large amount as he would exonerate them immediately if they were innocent.

Then again, if you're an employee and you're NOT innocent, then you're going to pay some legal bills. And rightly so.

Nice guy and that very rarely happens.

bottom line when the feds are investigating/indicting/charge you with something its not a great feeling nor one to go through.

Yes, I know - I was one of the ones going through it :winkwink: When the FBI and IRS call and schedule meetings at your house, it gets a little scary. And that was just the tip of the iceberg.
