Fines in your area?
 

A friend of mine was just pulled over and fined $813 for failing to stop for a pedestrian crossing the street.. fair enough, a lot of people get run over these days and thats not good.. but $813 is a BIT streep in my head..

how much would you have paid if you did the same thing?

Well, in my opinion, if your friend was driving 40mph in a 25mph speed zone and almost hit someone, $810 is fair enough. If he was going the speed limit and coming around a turn and someone was on the street, $810 is insane. I guess it depends on the situation.

With a $810 fine, I am swaying toward the story of him going like a total nut in a slow traffic area. Anyway, $810 is a huge fine for a traffic violation, so your friend must've been flying. :2 cents:

Some fines are starting to really get out of hand. What it is saying, if ya got the bucks, go ahead and break the law. There is is always plea bargaining im some jurisdictions.

just to correct it.. if you were going in 10mph or in 100mph the fine would be the same up here.. $813 + 2 dots in the cops register (think you loose your licence at 8 or something)

just did the math for this.. $813 would be arund 37% of an average norwegians payout each month (after taxes).. still think that is WAY to much for a fine :/
