Thailand would be the best choice. Your dollars go further. You might have to leave the country on a regular basis to renew your visa, though, depending on your circumstances. But the girls there are the best in the world. :thumbsup

Where are you living right now? I will assume the US or Europe, which means you are used to such things as electricity, hot and cold water, traffic signals, and a higher quality of life.

I don't know about Thailand, but everyone tells me it is similar to the Philippines, which I know well.
Pros: cheap sex. Good beaches. Cheap to live. Pretty women
Cons: Dirty, poverty everywhere, traffic laws are a joke causing horrendous taffic problems (it can take 30 minutes to travel three blocks). Did I mention dirty? If you are clearly foreign, plan on conned out of money by taxi drivers, waiters, etc. (that is not to say that everyone is crooked, but enough people are to piss you off). Black outs, hot water is sporadic.

Singapore:
Cons: Porn is limited (but you can still surf the net for it - some sites like, JJJ's is blocked by the government, but many many more are not). Costs more to live than Philippines or Thailand, but still cheap compared to US.
Pros: Great quality of life. Hot and cold running water 24/7. People speak english. Prostitution is legal. Good food - cooked fresh. Easy to get around via taxi and public transport. Clean country. Pretty women. Great place if you are a panty pervert - lots of visible panty lines - thongs!

But you have to realize that ALOT of sponsors do not allow webmasters from Singapore or Philippines.

Given the choice I would rather live in Singapore. It is much more cosmopolitan than Philippines. Manila is getting better though, but still has a long way to go.

Cost for a prostitute for an overnight session is about $70 US dollars in Manila. About $100-$150 US dollars in SIngapore. But you get a better variety in Singapore. In Manila you just get Filipinos. In Singapore you get Thai, Malay, Chinese, Filipino, etc.

I live in the US. Los Angeles, actually. I'm looking at SE Asia as a place to semi retire. The $ goes a longer way over there.
I really appreciate the advise re Philippines. I've been there about 5 times and you're right about the points you laid out. However, I don't plan to live in Manila but in the business district of Makati. What are your thoughts about that district... its the closest to Singapore the Philippines has, but at 30% the price.

Don't go to any of those three! Go to Malaysia: great beaches, nice cities almost non poverty. Good infrastructure etc. Much comparable to Signapore, however way bigger.

Unfortunately, one of the more repressive governments in the region as well. Malaysia pioneered the whole concept of Foreign Exchange transfer freezes. I had money stuck there. Easy to bring money in...hard to take it out.

No such similar restrictions in Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. Indeed, Philippines has not even ratified and enacted an anti-money laundering law yet. Not that I launder $, but that's just an indication of how relatively fluid their banking system is.

Makati has horrendous traffic from about 7am until 7pm which is really frustrating. It makes traffic in the US seem like sunday morning in the park. Just watch out for the she-males that hang out in the TGIF and outside the Peninsula hotel. If you are going to spend most of your time in Makati then it is good. If you get a place in Forbes Park or Das Marinas then you should be alright, but if you plan on living in an apartment, you might as well be living in a cave.

But Makati is where P Burgos is :)

Malate, near Manila bay, which used to be the red light district seems to be undergoing a renaissance of sorts, lots of cafes and drinking places. It has really changed from the days the US had the bases there. Plus it is close to the US Embassy.

Outside Manila, some of the suburbs are pretty good, but expensive. Alabang is a very nice place, literally offering country club living.

If I had my choice, I'd live on the beach at Boracay and have topless 18 yo babes feed me mangos.

The Philippines is like the wild west.

But I don't think you will have any problems with the law. The gov't is so financially strapped and given the other problems (abu sayef, kidnappings, etc.) I don't think internet policing is high on their list of priorities. You sites are hosted in the US, promoting your sites shouldn't be a problem. I update my stuff when I am there.
