I have a sneaking suspicion that when the price of gasoline reaches a point where alternative cleaner and renewable fuels become cheap, you'll see those houses get turned into McDonalds. Seriously though, in economics, there's a theory of replacement...when a commodity becomes so expensive that replacements are cheaper, those replacements also hit an economy of scale and efficiency that ensures that their prices become lower and their quality higher.

I'm sure some do. But market forces can tolerate 100+ per barrel price for so long before they look into other sources. While there may be conflicts of interests, Im sure the law of supply and demand would gravitate to a solution that isn't corrupted by current hoarders/players. :2 cents:

Within 6 years there will be no more oil left there. Have you noticed no city compares the the luxuries of Dubai's hotels? They're erecting over 40 new towers on the beach to make it a European hot-spot.

2) If you guys think the UAE will go broke once the oil is all gone, think again.. The Emirate of Dubai for example only makes 10% of its yearly income from oil now-a-days... the rest is tourism, free trade and technology.

And like Scotty said, its a Kempinski hotel, of course less than 50% ownership by them, since you can only open a company in UAE if you give 51% to a UAE citizen.. I bet the Emirate of Abu Dhabi owns most of it.

In the meantime, there will now be strong consumer pressure to create more efficient vehicles that don't compormise safety, style or performance.

In the meantiime the Diesel Jetta seems to be the best option for a non hybrid.

Our car companies have the ability to make our cars run on alot less gas..but their deal with the gas companies would then be broken..sad isnt it.. we are being fucked by our own more and more every day.
