2010 Vancouver Paralympic Logo [PIC]
http://www.discovervancouver.com/ima...Games-Logo.jpg
A friend of mine posted this mock 2010 Vancouver Paralympics Games Logo on his website this morning. Within a few hours he had Global TV (news team in Vancouver) at his office interviewing him in regards to the post. Apparently the Paralympics games committee (whoever that may be) is quite upset about the mocking of handicapped people. He now has to defend his member?s right to post what they want on the 6 o?clock news.... Your thoughts? |
Maybe I'm out of touch, but what's bad / wrong / mocking about the logo ?

fuck its not that bad, oh well free publicity.

I think I'll be tuning into Global at 6 to find out what he says! :thumbsup :winkwink:
|
Awesome... It should be pretty funny (Not sure why they are making such a big deal about it)
|
Well not knowing what the paralympic's are, yet being a parapalegic myself. I must say I do take offense to that logo. We paragimps use chairs, not walkers and most of use have two legs not one.
Then again if thats a dude on paralell bars, then were the fuck is his arms, and how is he standing? That too is just a mean and tasteless joke man. |
The reason it became such a big deal was because it was posted on a very mainstream site http://www.discovervancouver.com
|
lol .. and it looks like a disabled person.. so its a good logo
|
K.
I still don't see what you're seeing. I'm not handicapped though, so thank you for your view on it. Quote:

I suppose it vaguely ressembles a guy standing between paralell bars. |
It's a shit logo if you ask me.
The fact that people aren't sure what exactly it is, makes for a bad logo... :2 cents: |
the logo looks nice, good job :thumbsup

Ok being one legged has nothing to do with it. See the paralympics is for parapalegics which sort of removes the whole crutches thing. Parapalegics are paralyzed from around the waist down and use wheelchairs. Err nm, you did not start the thread. |
I thought it looked like an inukshuk with only one leg?

|
I don't find anyting offensive / particular ...b ut I'm in the wrong business to judge that
|
I'm really not sure, but the Paralympics games committee didn't find it very funny. Im sure they will havve lots to say on the news tonight.

:1orglaugh sorry... its just so stupid, i would instinctfully push it further to highlight the ingornace of the situation. |
I really don't see anything in that logo
someone who wants to explain teh funny to me? |
It doesn't look great for a logo. Unattractive to me.

If it was posted on GFY it wouldn't have raised an eyebrow but because it was listed on a mainstream site he has to go on the 6 oclock news to defend his members rights to post. |

"Dear Valued Readers, It has come to your attention that a ficticious logo for a ficticious event offended certain upity groups who represent that certain, unfortuneate segment of society which shall go unnamed. Lets just say its a group that we all deeply resent for taking up the best parking spaces. I mean fuck, if all I had to do was to sit in a chair all day to get front row parking at the mall and a super sized toilet with rails to grip for those big pushes, I would consider it a blessing from God. In this respect, the gimps are certainly right. life is not fair. Honestly, we suspect this "controversy" might not even originated in Canada. As you know, Americans get pretty pissy about stupid things. All though it's impossible for many to imagine where they find the time to complain, always having two fists full of chili cheese fries and a mouth full of deep fried cheese sticks,... but I don't trust them. Good thing no one is accusing invalids of having oil or the bombing raids would start before dinner. Regardless, we would like to let it be known that our intent was to both draw attention to and offer some encouragement to cripples who insist on deluding themselves into believing that they can be useful or productive members of society."' ... or something like that. now i am just bored. :) |

I don't really the real story here. I just replied based on what I've read though. |
I can't even really make it out... It wouldn't have made me look twice if it was the official logo... *shrugs*
