U2 or Coldplay?? [Poll]
 

They say that coldplay is the main candidate for the tittle of a greatest band in the world...so what do you guys think?

I go for U2...

i cant even name 1 song from coldplay, but i can name at least a dozen of U2s


i hate when they compare newer bands to legendary ones

U2 by a long shot - they delve into every style of music - Coldplay is all right but every song sounds exactly the same.

Coldplay has made 24 songs in 4 years. U2 over 500 in 25 years. No contest.

it's actually 33 songs in 5 years. But yeah.. U2 still win even if i'd rather listen to coldplay than anything U2 have done recently.

Why is Coldplay so popular, their stuff is awful and boring. I can't even name one song from them. U2 has about 4 landmark albums, colplay doesn't even have one good song.

U2's career didn't start in the year 2000. I agree that everything U2 has done in the past 10-15 years is garbage, boring, and stale. I haven't bought anything from them in years. But listen to their earlier albums from the 80's and maybe 1 or 2 from the 90's.

Coldplay's song "clocks" is the only song that I think is ok. The rest all sound exactly the same. They're in the same league as creed, nickelback, and 50 cent, just in a different genre. Having all songs sound the same used to mean a band had no talent, now it's heralded as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I love both their music but I love U2 more. :)

Both have ok music, but greatest band??? Both are not even in top20...ok, maybe U2, but absolute not Coldplay.

You should nominate more bands and look at what influence they had before you say greatest. Pink Floyd...The Beatles...Led Zeppelin...The Ramones...Radiohead...Kiss...The Rolling Stones...Nirvana... just to mention a few. THEN we are talking greatest bands :)

how old are you? Coldplay is trendy right now but I don't think they have what it takes to be any kind of long-term contender. And everyone who says Coldplay rocks, and U2 is not rock, are you kidding? Coldplay is like watered-down U2 but only for housewives who want to rock out to something corporate.

U2 has songs that are raw and passionate, yea, not so much recently, but spanning their whole career, from Bullet the Blue Sky to Desire to Vertigo to New Year's Day to Sunday Bloody Sunday to Where the Streets Have No Name to Beautiful Day to Elevation to Mysterious Ways.
Name one Coldplay song that exhudes that much energy or passion. Coldplay is like U2 on quaaludes. :2 cents:

How can anybody compare Superb U2 to Coldplay. Coldplay is nothing and esp. their singer he is horrible.

Suggesting Coldplay is a bad joke, but putting U2 up there isn't a whole lot better. Sure they have a few decent tracks, but "the greatest band in the world"? Come on... not even close...
