The "Free Porn Demon"

What are you thoughts on what it would take to minimize free porn on the web?

spacedog 02-12-2002 12:45 AM

with no free porn on the web, more than 2/3 of webmasters would be out of an income..

Without that bottom 2/3 , the upper 2/3 would lose traffic as well as sales.. Paysite partnership programs would crumble..
the whole industry would crumble..

Don't forget that those bottom 2/3 , the tgps & gallery makers & free sites are what make this biz as big & profitable as it is...

The FREE porn sites are the traffic giants of this biz...

Speak now or forever hold your peace.

hehe

bottom 2/3 and upper 2/3?
hummmmmm

We should all put some money together and get spacedog a calculator;)

Yesterday he thought that 300 or so K pageviews would make over 30million pageviews a day:)

Spacedog, according to my math 2/3 + 2/3 = 4/3, is the last 1/3 the really good webmasters that don't need anybody?

That post is just sad.

The traffic is out there. Few webmasters actually get their own traffic and almost no webmasters makes any.
TGP webmasters don't make traffic - they fight for what's all ready moving.
Linklists an CJ sites are also just pushing traffic around, trying to squeeze a buck out of it.
Some webmasters, a lot of free site and AVS site builders, as well as the rare TGP and LL owners, learn to grab SE traffic and start it on its way. That's as close as most of them get to "helping" out the pay sites.
There is a difference between bookmarkers and fresh traffic.
Technically, unless you actually build a search engine and promote it you aren't "making" any traffic.

If it weren't for freeloaders the pay sites wouldn't need us.
Most of us bitch about the freeloading surfers but it' s the freeloading webmasters that created the current "free porn problem."
Porn sells itself. The big boys would live without the partnership programs. Instead of paying hundreds of webmasters the lion's share of the take they could hire search engine experts and pay them salaries, cut membership prices and be more profitable than they are now.
But that's not going to happen.
Is this a good thing? Depends on your take of the current situation. I'm all for competition.
The way the market has evolved has made it easier for new companies to enter the biz, allbeit at a much reduced ROI.
And it's made it easier for the freeloading webmasters to enter the business as well. They give content and free web space to the freeloaders to make sure their programs get advertised.
They give all this away to the freeloading webmaster because they know if they don't the competition will. And it's never a good idea to miss a marketing opportunity.

I agree with almost everything you said, but actually *some* TGP's really make traffic. By word of mouth.
A few years ago a guy asked another "where can I find some porn damnit?" the answer was "go to persiankitty.com"

Now the answer is "thehun" or "worldsex"
