More IQ more problems

Did you ever look at a very happy person, and thought to yourself how unhappy you'd be in his place? Maybe his wife seems rather dim do you, maybe his job is very humbling - but somehow, he seems like the happiest person in the world (Que in the drug jokes)

I'm starting to believe that the smarter you are, the harder it is to be happy with a job or a relationship. At least, the smarter you think you are.

And me, I think I'm pretty damn smart. It gets a little old always feeling like you're two steps ahead in the conversation when I'm in a relationship. I can't help but always feeling underchallenged at work.

I wish someone would come along and convince me that I'm actually stupid. Would make life easier.

I can totally relate to this actually, I've felt the same way often... stupid people are generally too stupid to realize that they're stupid though, or to realize that if they were smarter that they could do so much better, so they're pretty happy people, I'd agree. "Ignorance is bliss: For the ignorant" --How I've longed to be ignorant on a few occasions... lol

The happiest person I ever saw was a special needs girl when I was in highschool, years ago... she looked like an angel for one thing, had blonde curly hair, blue blue BLUE eyes, and these bright pink lips, and she LOVED everybody. It was actually pretty cool because normally you'd have a bunch of haters at one point or another, but the whole time, I never saw anybody do anything mean to her or heard anything mean said about her... she loved everybody so much & everybody loved her back and she was the HAPPIEST person I have -ever- seen. I went through a huge guilty phase one time when I was feeling really depressed, and I was jealous of her... I was jealous that she was mentally handicapped & that as a result she'd always view the world through a child's eyes, with wonderment & a smile on her face.

It gets better though, if you're going through a tough time right now be happy that you have the intelligence to improve your state so you can be happier than you are now... Chin up! :)

I am not as smart as other people but neither a stupid one as well. However, I try my best to be able to handle different conversations with different type of people.

I knew a 50 year old that was like that. Her life was very simple. She had the mentality of a 6 year old and needed very little to be happy. She was always giggling to herself.

I am always happy; will that make me a low IQ person?

While there's a basic threshold for "Smart", defining a real "smart" person is hard. What metric are you going to use? IQ score? EQ score? income?
group perception? self-perception? All these have advantages and drawbacks.

Yeah, I totally understand what you mean. The smarter you are, the more you harp on details that most people wouldn't even recognize. It's hard to not overanalyze when your mind is so active and ignorance isn't an option.

I realized some time ago that "simpler" people tend to be happier because they don't think, care, or remember things that smarter people do. It's hard for "smart" people to trust and accept things (especially people) at face value, because they analyze things beyond the surface.

It's really hard to train your mind to "relax" and enjoy things, when you are constantly calculating and analyzing. It's possible though! :thumbsup
