FACT: If you have both a swimming pool and a gun at home

statiscally your child is 100x more likely to drown in the pool than be killed by the gun.

More fun and interesting statistics such as

legal Abortion and the crime drop of the 90's

from Freakonomics

Damn good book.

My ex girlfriends best friend had her baby drown while her boyfriend was baby sitting.

The father was pissed.

Small children can drown in as little as a few inches of water. Always have a fence around the pool and monitor the children. :(

Every one of my Rottweilers has fallen in one of my pools at one time or another.

My old pool had stairs and my adult female could swim to them and climb out. My Male has fallen in both pools, but always swims to the shallow end and stands on his back paws with his front paws on the pool deck and cries for all he's worth.

Yep , some people are too much into impressing their neighbors and colleagues that they loose track on the on safety issues concerning a pool.

I had a rottie named Rook a few years back. He would jump in the pool. no falling involved. My step son tormented him until the dog finally grabbed his head and put him in the dirt. I warned him that the dog was going to grow up and get him one day and it did. I hated to see that dog go. He was great. He would play catch with any type of abll. It made a loud clunk when he would catch the wooden ball. It was the only one he couldn't pop. Damn thing could carry a basket ball in his mouth.
