Top-of-your-head trivia

Googling is not allowed... Of course some people will cheat but anyone who knows the answers can easily beat them.

1. Name as many characters from Dallas (the prime-time eighties soap opera) as you can.

Jr ewing

Dagwolf 08-21-2005 01:59 AM

Here's another one: Who shot J.R. Ewing?

Dagwolf 08-21-2005 02:00 AM

And doesn't anyone remember the tiny blonde with the huge tits?

thaifan99 08-21-2005 02:01 AM

thaifan99 08-21-2005 02:02 AM

Yep, that was J.R.'s wife. She didn't shoot him, though.

She also wasn't the tiny blonde with huge tits...

This is more like "shitty nostalgia" than any sort of trivia.

Here's one for you: What does a red band in the second space on a resistor signify?

It partially determines the resistance usually in ohms? As to what number is signifies I have no idea.

Strange you would ask this. For 5 years I worked in Process Engineering for a large electronics manufacturer, in their surface mount department.

thaifan99 08-21-2005 02:11 AM

This could turn nerdy quick lol

Sarah_Jayne 08-21-2005 02:12 AM

nothing wrong with nerdy

Dagwolf 08-21-2005 02:13 AM

Some other Dallas characters:
Cliff Barnes - J.R's arch-enemy
Jock Ewing
Miss Ellie
Pam
Kristen (J.R.'s mistress)

Two of the members of ABBA wrote a relatively sucessful musical with at least one well known number. Name that Musical and popular song associated with it.

My dad was an electronics QC man for many years and my mom taught electronic component soldering for Verizon. She tried to teach me but it didn't take.

All I can remember is that the colors represent numbers. I actually don't know the answer to that one.

That is a song from Chess, and probably the best song. It's not the most well known in pop culture though.

nothing wrong with that..i was upset enough with myself that I even knew part of an ABBA question. I like older musicals in general if I am in the right mood.

I dated a professional singer/dancer/actress for 5 years. That's where it comes from.

I'm partial to the older stuff myself. Singing in the Rain, On the Town, Easter Parade.

Sarah_Jayne 08-21-2005 02:27 AM

Why did Monkee Michael Nesmith's mother deserve to be more famous than he ever was?

Yup that is the era I was thinking of for myself aswell. I had parents that made me watch a lot of them growing up.

Fred Astaire had amazing hands, no? Here's some usless trivia. He always thought his hands were much too big. They are in fact a little large, and you'll notice he always holds them in such a way as to minimize how large they look. He was very self concious about this. The man could catch anything in those hands though.

With feet like that he shouldn't have cared about his hands.

SOADa 08-21-2005 02:31 AM

Bangkok oriental city. I get my kicks above the waist line sunshine!

Absolutely not.. I've known since 3rd grade that liquid paper was invented by a woman in her backyard shed; your hint was all I needed to put that together with the question. :)

thaifan99 08-21-2005 02:55 AM

Where is krung Thep?

Dagwolf 08-21-2005 02:57 AM

I'm off to bed... This was fun. We'll have to do it again, I'll try to prepare more questions.

J.R. was shot by his mistress Kristen, by the way.
J.R. was played by Larry Hagman (from I Dream of Jeannie)
Bobby was Patrick Duffy (starred in the series The Man from Atlantis)
Bobby's wife Pam was Victoria Principal (Her butt figured in most of my dreams during my teenage years)

Dagwolf 08-21-2005 02:59 AM

Victoria Principal

Lee 08-21-2005 05:40 AM

I knew the liquid paper (Tippex?) one.

Krung Thep, sounds like a Cambodian temple but thats just a guess.

Lee 08-21-2005 05:41 AM

Hmmm I just looked up Krung Thep and I was wrong :(

mikeyddddd 08-21-2005 06:01 AM

I thought Michael Nesmith's mother invented WhiteOut. He has been successful on his own after the Monkees.

That sounds like it's in Thailand, just from the letter combinations.

The blonde with big tits was lucy. She was Gary's daughter. He moved to Knott's Landing.

Red - don't know. Musical - don't know.

PussyTeenies 08-21-2005 06:07 AM

JR and uhm alex or alexa.. tats all i know ..
